Ever since I was very young, I have lived and breathed Tar Heel Sports. Born and raised in Chapel Hill, attending games at Kenan Stadium and the Smith Center have been huge parts of my life. I play sports as well. Growing up, I played football, basketball, and baseball. Now, at age 16, I am currently playing football for East Chapel Hill High School. I have aspired to be a sportswriter for some time now, and I am excited to be writing for Armchair All-Americans. Aside from sports, I love my family, my dog, and the beach. It should also be known that I am a very big Luke Maye supporter (and have been even BEFORE he made the game winner versus Kentucky).

I'm a UNC writer and the ACC Social Media Manager for Armchair All-Americans. I grew up in Atlanta knowing that I was going to be the next Maddux or Glavine. Unfortunately, I never hit six feet tall, 4.4 in the 40-yard dash, 90 m.p.h. on the radar gun, or 50 home runs. So I decided do my sports from my armchair and behind a computer screen. My favorite all-time sports moment? 1992. NLCS. Game 7. Sid Bream. Look it up. Worst sports moment ever? Two words: Kris. Jenkins. I live in the bustling metropolis of Webb City, MO, where ministry is my full-time job. I spend my free time with my beautiful wife and son.

I am recent graduate of The Ohio State University who is currently following his dream of sports writing. I was born in Wayne, New Jersey and played football in high school all four years. In college I stuck to intramural basketball. Although not much of a scorer, I liked to consider myself a real gritty “bring your lunch pale to work” power forward with playing style being described as a mix between Reggie Evans and Rick Mahorn. I am a lifelong Denver Broncos and New York Yankees fan, a skeptical yet optimistic New Orleans Pelicans fan, and above all else a die hard Ohio State fan. @DSmythTheMyth18

Content Creator at Armchair Northwestern , The Armchair All-Americans, LLC
My name is Henrique DaMour and I’m an undergraduate journalism student at Northwestern and a survivor of Armando Galarraga’s 28-out perfect game. My sports fandom is Detroit through and through, with my one true love being the Tigers and baseball in general, and my e-sports fixation expanding at a dangerous rate. I grew up overseas before finally moving to the U.S., specifically Detroit, being introduced to sports as a cultural phenomenon in 2006 and becoming obsessed. I now find myself in Evanston where I’m currently trying to come out of school with a piece of paper that apparently makes me more qualified to make a living talking about sports than the next guy. I’m currently engrossed in developing as a play-by-play/color commentator, but otherwise I love singing a cappella, playing pickup basketball (quite poorly), convincing people I have original thoughts about music, and enjoying Coca-Cola by the gallon.

My name is Josh Keatley and will be contributing to the Ohio State football portion of the site. I am also an active contributor for USA Today’s Browns Wire, where the focus is primarily on the Cleveland Browns. I was previously a contributor for another Ohio State website in Fansided’s Scarlet & Game. I played Division- 1, FCS level college football at Valparaiso University for two years at running back before deciding to transfer to Ohio State. I did attempt to walk-on for the Buckeyes, but they told me to move along rather quickly. Please feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @keatdawg27 and we can discuss NCAA, NFL, CFL, or AFL football anytime.

Team Manager and Content Contributor for the Penn State Nittany Lions , The Armchair All Americans LLC
I’m Tommy Butler. Having been born and raised in State College, PA, I’ve bled Blue and White my whole life. Now at 20 years old, I’m a sports broadcast journalism student at Penn State. I’ve been living my dream of covering all Nittany Lion sports with various clubs and radio stations on campus. That said, during the Summer I cover Boston and New England teams for various websites, sometimes live-tweeting games @ButlerOnTheAir. With a family full of New Englanders I was raised a Boston fan, no bandwagon here. Hopefully I represent my allegiances well. I love the extraordinary: switch hitters/pitchers, knuckleballers, or anyone with an interesting story. I get incredibly worked up about impressive or rare stats in sports. I hope you enjoy my work!

I have a passion for Jesus, sports, hip-hop, and comics (in that order). My parents grew up in Illinois, my mom in central Illinois and my dad near Chicago. Because of this, I am a diehard Chicago sports fan. I follow the Bulls, Blackhawks, Bears, White Sox, and the Fighting Illini almost religiously. My writing career started over at FanSided (which I loved), and that led me here. My family lived in Indianapolis for awhile, but just last year we moved out to Knoxville, TN. In the fall of this year, I will be attending Milligan College near Johnson City, TN, and I will be pursuing a double major in communications and Bible with a focus in pastoral ministry.

Team Manager for Armchair West Virginia University , The Armchair All-Americans, LLC
My sports fandom is more diverse and confusing than a David Lynch film: I support the University of Michigan collegiate athletics, Boston Celtics of the NBA, and the Chicago Blackhawks of the NHL. What the hell, right? Being from a secluded state (West Virginia; not western Virginia, no, not near Roanoke), I gravitated towards franchises with passionate fan bases. Fans that treat the sports like religion; every box score a scripture and every disappointing end to the season a sign of the Rapture. Waking up on a cold fall, Saturday morning and tailgating with thousands of your best friends; offering verbal assistance to referees at basketball games until they are on the verge of implosion; drinking enough Canadian beer at hockey games that you appear to be the one skating on ice as you leave the arena; this is why I am a sports fan. That burning passion was instilled in me as a child and it’s a passion I will eternally possess covering WVU athletics.

I can be found on twitter @hgore_25 and on Instagram @hdg25. One piece of advice I will give is this, no matter how bad things seem, at least we’re not Texas. Boomer Sooner!

I'm a sports media major at Oklahoma State University. I'm from the DFW metroplex and grew up a diehard Cowboys, Rangers and Mavericks fan. The 2011 sports seasons made me think I was bi-polar. Ever since then they've made me think I'm depressed. My ultimate goal would be to host a sports talk radio show once I graduate. I cover Oklahoma State football, basketball and baseball here at Armchair All-Americans.

My name is Josh Zaklis. I was born in raised in New Jersey and now I live in Phoenix, Arizona to attend the Arizona State University Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. I am a Yankees, Eagles, and Islanders fan which I know is a weird combination but that is what happens when you grow up in central Jersey. I hope to one day celebrate an Eagles super bowl victory and an Islanders Stanley Cup win but it doesn’t look like either of those things are happening anytime soon. So while I wait, I’ll cover Arizona State Sports.

Growing up in Southern California, I fell in love with sports at a very young age. Los Angeles sports is what shaped my love and passion for the world of sports; through this city’s historic teams and passionate fan base, I developed a strong connection with sports and my teams in LA. I have experienced many incredible sports moments in my life, and as a diehard LA Sports fan I have truly been blessed with many defining moments in sports history. From the Kobe Shaq era of the Lakers, to USC’s dominate run in College Football, to Kobe reviving the LakeShow for back-to-back titles, to the Kings’ improbable run in the NHL, there has been no shortage of excitement in the City of Angels. My passion for LA sports has never dwindled, even as an Oregon State graduate, my love for this city’s teams has grown even stronger along with my love of Beaver athletics.

Hello from a Bay Area sports fan who was born and raised in Tucson in a Chicago sports household. I am currently majoring in journalism and minoring in physics at the University of Arizona so I can find more brain-wracking stats to explain sports. When I’m not worshiping UA sports I can be found at Tucson Roadrunners games or on my Twitter, @mirachelonice, tweeting about the San Jose Sharks, Golden State Warriors, or San Francisco Giants. Aside from sports I like to binge watch TED talks about space, string theory, and physics, and also Impractical Jokers. Some items on my bucket list are to visit AT&T Park, see Lauri Markkanen play in the NBA, and be able to eat anything hotter than mild at Buffalo Wild Wings.

My name is Tj Barnett and I am an avid sports fan. I grew up in Louisville, KY (don’t worry, I’d rather run my head through a thousand brick walls than be a UofL fan). Ever since I was 2 years old, I was rocking UK booties and mumbling the fight song. It was all UK basketball until I discovered the Cincinnati Bengals and the Reds in ’05 then the Miami Heat in ’06. Ever since then, I’ve lived and breathed sports! My Twitter account is where I avidly voice my opinion in relation to sports, and I’m always ready for a good argument.

Content Creator at Armchair Cubs , Armchair All-Americans, LLC
I’m a student at the University of Maryland. I’ve been a Cubs fan since I was six and started reading the Chicago Tribune sports section every Sunday morning. It still feels strange to say “defending champion Chicago Cubs,” but these are good problems to have. Before Maryland, I got a degree from Indiana University, where I watched Kyle Schwarber pulverize baseballs for two years. I even interviewed him once in a media scrum so I’m sure he remembers me. If you need someone to tell you who won the World Series in a given year, I’m your man: I have them all memorized (the year you’re thinking of was probably the Yankees).

Falcons, SEC and occasional Braves writer. Built like a former prototypical private school defensive tackle. You can't say I didn’t play the games because I was one helluva scout team All-American in practice and I watched intently from the bench during games. Born and raised in the city of Atlanta, I’m scarred by the playoff and championship disappointments but I continue to look forward to Atlanta’s next opportunity to blow a 28-3 lead. Always critical and skeptical because no lead is ever safe.

I grew up in the only hilly part of Indiana, an unholy place where Reds, Cardinals, and Cubbie fans all live in semi-harmony. The first 20 years of my life were abysmal as I never got to see a winning season from my beloved Pirates. Today I live in bliss as I allow my baseball addiction to take over every aspect of my life.

I’m a 22-year-old Seattle Mariners fan who is into everything baseball. I was born in Kent, WA in 1995 and was six the last time they made the playoffs. I played the sport myself through high school, and once I realized I wasn’t good enough at playing, I knew I had to go a different route to continue to be around the game I love. In June of 2017 I graduated with a B.A. in Journalism from Eastern Washington University. I wrote for the school newspaper during my two years there covering the athletic department as well as the football and basketball teams. Going forward, I aim to keep writing and hope to cover the sport I love.

My name’s Sam Schmitz. I’m currently a student at UW-Milwaukee. I was born and raised in Wisconsin. When I’m not wearing my cheese head or crying about Jabari Parker’s ACL, I like to kick back. Being from the dairy land, I’ve been a Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks fan. Needless to say it’s been an up and down time being a fan of the Bucks and Brewers, but I’ve been lucky to see Aaron Rodgers win a super bowl. If you proclaim yourself to be a Bucks fan, I’ll put you on the spot and make you spell out the Greek Freak’s last name. I’m very proud to be covering the Milwaukee Brewers.

I am a recent graduate from Indiana University with a degree in Sport Marketing and Management and minors in business and marketing. I have been involved in basketball my entire life and want to make a career out of it. My eventual goal is to become an NBA Personnel Scout. I am a huge North Carolina Tar Heels fan as my dad and grandfather got their undergraduate degrees there. I became a Celtics fan when they drafted Rajon Rondo back in 2006 as he was my favorite player due to his TRUE point guard abilities. After he was traded, and became all about his ego, I still remained a Celtics fan. When Isaiah Thomas was drafted by the Kings, he was my favorite player and then he eventually became a Celtic, working out perfectly. Having just recently graduated from the University of Massachusetts in Dartmouth, I am now grinding it out to become the best. I am the Celtics Department Head for Armchair, while also contributing to The Standard Times newspaper in New Bedford, MA. I'm not trying to be the small town journalist who can't make ends meet. I want to be the best, and I won't stop until I get there. I want to be a household name in the sports community.

I'm Andrew Cabatingan, and I only know three things for sure. One, any NFL kicker not named Stephen Gostkowski (GOATkowski) is absolute garbage and cannot be trusted. Two, Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback there ever was or ever will be. Three, I am prone to outbursts of Patriots homerism and any hyperbolic statements I make should be taken as sarcasm. If you’re looking for real facts about me, I suppose I would start by saying I am a sophomore at Northeastern University, I love all Boston sports, everything Game of Thrones (kudos to you if you can find the reference I made earlier), reading, singing, and arguing with strangers on the Internet. I hope that any preexisting bias due to any of this does not begin to seep into my writing, but if it does, I have the peace of mind of knowing that some snarky commenter will probably point it out.

Born and raised in South Florida, I’m a lifelong Dolphins, Marlins, Gators, Heat, and Panthers fan. While my Patriot-fan friends have seen 5 Super Bowl victories since 2000, I’ve seen my Fins in the playoffs only three times, even though I’ve predicted them as a playoff team nearly every season (I blame Brady). I think that NFL players should be allowed to celebrate anyway they want, and it’s all the Miami Hurricanes’ fault that players can’t celebrate the way they want.

My name is Jacob Gurney and I have always been considered to be “athletically average.” But being a quick learner, I soon accrued an expansive knowledge of the various sports I played growing up. For example, I learned that I am horrible at catching fly balls under pressure and that I can’t dribble a basketball to save my life. Through sports I have gained not only an appreciation for the game, but I have learned valuable lessons as well. I am a die-hard Ohio State Buckeyes fan and I truly believe that college football is life. In addition to the Scarlet and Gray, I root for the Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Cleveland Browns. Growing up a Cleveland fan in rural Northwest Ohio, the most important lesson that I have learned is how to cope with being eternally disappointed and emotionally distraught. Articles will not only be laced with humor, but will also display a willful perpetuation of the endless revolution of many Ohio professional sports fan sentiments—a cycle which constantly fluctuates among unrealistic optimism, aggressive confusion, and numbing sorrow.

I played football, basketball and baseball the majority of my childhood and continued to play football in high school. As a sports fan, and living in New Jersey, the New York Rangers, Knicks and Mets have always been my favorite teams. I never liked any NFL team from New York though, or even the surrounding area, as the Green Bay Packers have always been my favorite NFL team from the day I was born, making me a day one cheese head.

I am a college student, born and raised in central Indiana. Somehow, I grew up a diehard fan of the Vikings, Cubs, and Pacers. My entire life, I had never witnessed a championship for one of my teams, so when the Cubs pulled it off last season, I didn’t know what to do or say. My Twitter (@lparrish22) is filled with upset and disappointed tweets, including having to watch John Lackey every five days and the infamous Blair Walsh miss. No matter how hard it is to watch my teams choke every year, I always hold out hope. “Next year” is the most common saying in my household.

Originally from Michigan, I now reside in the sunshine state. I am a freshman at the University of Tampa majoring in sports journalism and sports have been an integral part of my life since my first steps. Up until third grade, sports were just a thing that I played. In third grade, I was introduced to the idea of storytelling. For my assignment I was supposed to write a one page story on anything I wanted. Instead, I wrote a chapter book about a baseball game. It was at that moment that I knew what I wanted to be when I grow up. Mixing sports and writing for me was a perfect match and I have been doing it ever since. Even though I now live in Florida, Michigan sports are where my heart is. The Detroit Lions, while tough to watch at times, are the only thing that gets me excited on Sunday’s. If you’re as passionate about the Lions as I am, sit back, relax, and take a seat.

I'm a Denver, Colorado native that loves almost all sports. I have a beautiful daughter that means the world to me and she also loves to watch sports. Sometimes I can be very opinionated when debating or discussing sports, but if you love a team you will definitely debate it out to the fullest. I like to be adventurous and experience the outdoors, play sports with friends, golf when I have the time and experience new foods and activities. I also want to visit other ballparks and stadiums to support Colorado teams and experience the culture at those venues. So feel free to debate or discuss sports with me anytime even if we don't agree.

Imagine growing up and living your whole life in Canada without being able to skate. All I’ve ever heard my whole life was, “hockey, hockey, hockey” and I all I’ve ever said back was “football, football, football.” I love football. The NFL is my life. I love everything about it, but I'm particularly interested in the NFL Draft. I cover the Rams here because I believe in the Jared Goff Experience, and so should you. I’m also a huge Toronto Raptors fan, Vince Carter had the best dunk contest ever. I cheer for the Toronto Blue Jays, but mainly because John Gibbons is so committed to leaning. I guess I’m a Toronto Maple Leafs fan as well strictly because of geography. I’m currently a journalism student at Durham College, after retiring from my, mediocre at best, rugby career at Wilfrid Laurier University.

I've always enjoyed both writing and sports, so I figured I'd give sports journalism a try. I particularly like analyzing and reading about NFL contracts, rosters, strategies, free agency, and the draft.

I am Will “Big Red” Ovington, a native of Montgomery County, Maryland, just outside of Washington D.C. I was born and bred a DC sports fan, following the Redskins, Capitals, Wizards and Nationals through thick and thin despite all the recent heartbreaks. Dad got to see the heyday of DC sports and swears my generation and I cursed the city. In the Spring of 2017, I graduated from Salisbury University, a small, Division III school on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, with a degree in communications with a track to journalism, and minoring in English and film. I played football at one of the nation’s top high schools, Our Lady of Good Counsel (Olney, Md.) alongside some young current and future NFL talent. While I lack the physical gifts of Stefon Diggs and Kendall Fuller, I’ve decided to keep my passion for sports alive by becoming a writer. #HTTR #RockTheRed #dcRising #IBackNats

For all of you that do not see my name above, my name is Joseph Fazio and I am a freshman at Oklahoma State University #GoPokes as a sports media major. I will be cover global soccer news for ACAA. To start off, I am from the great state of Massachusetts and I'm a diehard Boston sports fan. Favorite sports moment has to be Big Papi's walk off home run in Game 4 of the 2004 ALCS. Nobody will ever be as clutch as David Ortiz ever. Other than Boston sports, I am a supporter of Manchester City FC and Juventus FC. If you ever happen to be at Oklahoma State on game day, there is a 100% chance you will find me there.
