I have a passion for Jesus, sports, hip-hop, and comics (in that order). My parents grew up in Illinois, my mom in central Illinois and my dad near Chicago. Because of this, I am a diehard Chicago sports fan. I follow the Bulls, Blackhawks, Bears, White Sox, and the Fighting Illini almost religiously. My writing career started over at FanSided (which I loved), and that led me here. My family lived in Indianapolis for awhile, but just last year we moved out to Knoxville, TN. In the fall of this year, I will be attending Milligan College near Johnson City, TN, and I will be pursuing a double major in communications and Bible with a focus in pastoral ministry.

Zain Bando is a Downers Grove North High School graduate (a Western Suburb of Illinois), and incoming freshman at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Lucky enough, I made the wise decision to steer clear of West Lafayette and the Boilermakers and found my home at Indiana University where Archie Miller will undoubtedly lead our Hoosiers back to the promised land. I hail from Catonsville, Maryland a town bordering Baltimore to the southwest. I am a student at the University of Maryland. Growing up a Ravens, Orioles, and Terrapins fan, I have seen great success and utter disappointment. From Joe Flacco’s mile high miracle to Ubaldo Jimenez giving up a walk-off homerun to Blue Jays in the wild card game I have felt all of the emotions that comes with being a sports fan. Hi y’all! I am a Southern soul stuck in a Michigan girl’s body. One day I will escape these six month winters. But I have cherished every moment of growing up in Northern Michigan and attending a small high school where the morale of the town varies depending on the weather and how our sports teams are playing. I was raised in the maize and blue worshipping Tom Brady, Bo, and Charles Woodson. Every Fall Saturday began with me, my brothers, and my dad huddled in the living room watching College GameDay. We cheered on Michigan, Alabama (my younger brother is a bandwagoner), and any team playing Ohio State. And Sundays were designated to preventing my dad from having a heart attack while watching the Detroit Lions wait until the fourth quarter to actually play a game. In a nutshell, sports, to me, have always been extremely emotional and that’s why I became a fan.

My name is Maddy Fri and I am a Communications and English Major at the University of Michigan. I was born and raised a Michigan fan, but only truly began understanding the sport of football during the Brady Hoke era. Still, I remained a true fan and am patiently waiting for Michigan to win a title (and beat OSU). I am, and always will be, loyal to the Detroit Lions – no matter how many times they don’t win a playoff game. Growing up I knew two things, I loved sports and I was a talented writer. With that in mind I set out to begin my career in sports journalism. As a lifelong fan of Spartan athletics, I decided to attend MSU and later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in journalism. My other sports passion is Detroit sports, specifically the Detroit Lions (still waiting to witness my first playoff win). Since graduating from MSU, I have had the opportunity to write for various publications including MLive and Detroit Sports Nation. I am now excited to join Armchair All Americans and help cover Michigan State recruiting. Besides sports, I enjoy playing video games and listening to all kinds of genres of rock music. I currently reside in Grand Rapids, Michigan with my wife Melissa.

I’m a Michigan State student, working on my sports journalism degree. I’m basketball junkie and an NBA diehard that flirts with football and baseball in my off time. Although I have been suffering Detroit sports fan for an embarrassing amount of years, last few years of the Michigan State-Michigan rivalry, in all sports, has kept me afloat. My name is Kade Dohmen and I am a student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I have been a member of Husker Nation since I can remember. Unfortunately my first experience at Memorial Stadium was ruined by Iowa State and eight turnovers, but that’s not important. Drew Cubitt- Growing up in Evanston, IL I come from the heart of Northwestern nation. That said my choice of fandom was neither hard or forced. My parents both went to Purdue and met senior year. I was named Drew in large part due to Purdue great Drew Brees who would be drafted by the chargers just 2 months later. Yes I’m only 17. But because of this, at the spry age of eight I was witnessing the baby boilers of Purdue basketball, and a super bowl victory from my favorite NFL team, the Saints(Drew Brees). It is from here that I learned we can’t all be winners, as both the Saints and boiler basketball teams have combined to have 5 losing seasons since… not to mention myself never seeing a better than 6-6 regular season from the football squad(started following 07-08). BTW my golden retriever’s name is Boiler 😉

Being born and raised in Atlanta, GA, and cheering for the local teams couldn’t be harder. We have had more NHL teams relocate out of the city than the number of championships combined between the Hawks, Falcons, and Braves. When trying to communicate with me please refrain from using the phrases: “28-3”, “Tom Brady” or really anything remotely hinting at a team that hails from the New England region of the country. Purdue sports follow a very similar trend as Atlanta sports, they just do it in colder weather. Can, and will, debate with you on how Purdue basketball will finally cut down the nets this year. Anyways, go sports!

My name’s James King, and I’m a 22-year-old Sports Journalism major at the almighty Rutgers University. I’m from central New Jersey (yes it exists) right on the beach in a town called Neptune. I grew up playing baseball and football, but being 5’7” and deficient of speed doesn’t get you much after high school graduation. My passion for sports and obvious deep love for keyboards has brought me to this lovely place here. I bleed green for my beloved New York Jets (it will sound good one day, just wait). The Boston Celtics and Red Sox hold the other two-thirds of my sports heart. With that said, you can usually find me kicked back somewhere with a brew giving my usually disagreeable sports opinions.

My love affair with sports began at the age of three, when I was the biggest cheerleader of my brother’s Little League team. I knew that I was sucked in at the age of eight, when I bawled my eyes outside Shea Stadium after watching Mike Piazza play his last game as a New York Met. To this day I am a diehard Mets, and Jets fan. There is very little joy in my life. As much as I adore to watch sports, growing up I loved playing them even more. There was rarely a day of the week I wasn’t being shuttled off to some sort of practice. My favorite sports were softball, where I was coached by my dad until I reached middle school, and gymnastics, which I am still involved with as a coach and student manager at Rutgers University.

Throughout my childhood, I was never much of an athlete nor did I watch many sports. Although I participated in practically every sport you could think of, I was never good at any. Throughout high school I struggled with finding my passion, I never truly knew what I wanted to go to school for but I knew for a fact I wanted to be at the University of Kansas. Being a Jayhawk was a dream of mine since childhood and I never even considered going anywhere else. Finally, midway through my senior year of high school I found my passion, writing. I was in an English class where we wrote an autobiography and it was at that moment I knew what I wanted to become, a sports journalist. I graduated high school and eventually moved to Lawrence, Kansas where I now major in both Journalism and Sports Management. Despite never taking any journalism courses in high school, I have found my passion and my dream job. I love writing about all sorts of things, namely Kansas Football, basketball and I even do some writing about music. As I child I never expected to be where I am today, but now I hope to use ArmChair as a way to branch out into the world and make connections. For now, I hope to continue expanding myself and develop as a writer.

I grew up in Southern California and developed a love for all sports at a young age, though I ultimately decided on golf when it came to playing something at a competitive level. But as far as watching sports, college football reigns supreme. I attended my first game as 5-year-old when visiting family in Florida. Michigan defeated Alabama in overtime to win the Orange Bowl, and the winning quarterback just happened to be a senior by the name of Tom Brady. I attended plenty of USC games with my dad during the Pete Carroll era, only furthering my love for the game. Since then, I’ve been blessed to attend and cover games at some awesome venues including Oklahoma, LSU, AT&T Stadium, and more than I can count at TCU. Beyond college sports, I love cheering on the San Francisco Giants and 49ers, and exploring new places when afforded the opportunity.

Hi my name is Matt Holleran, I currently just finished my junior year at West Virginia University. I have been a Dallas Cowboys fan my entire life, and also am an avid Washington Nationals fan. I attend Nationals games about 25 times a year, and also played baseball for most of my life. I also attend almost all West Virginia sporting events when I am at school. Sports have been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I played softball for 12 years and fell head over heels in love with the game. I am currently going to school at Arizona State University pursuing degrees in both sports journalism and statistics. Baseball is my main passion, but I can talk some NFL too (Go Hawks!). I am fascinated with the numbers side of the game and love how prevalent it is becoming.

I am from Los Angeles and I am a huge Angels, Clippers and Baltimore Ravens fan (liked them long before the Rams came). I loved playing and watching sports growing up and since I don’t consider myself an MLB talent, sports journalism seemed like the way to go. I am a sophomore at Arizona State. In my first year, I covered ASU Baseball and Women’s Basketball for Devils in Detail. I also had a sports talk radio show called Road to Glory on the student radio station Blaze Radio, and I am on that show again along with a couple of podcasts on blazeradioonline.com. I also called a couple of ASU softball games for the station. I work as a cameraman and did color commentary for high school athletics for School Space Media.

Well hello there. My life as a sports fan has typically been filled with either ecstasy or deep suffering. I watched my Seahawks obliterate the Broncos for their first Super Bowl win one year, only to see them toss the second one away on the damn goal line in what is easily the worst play call in football history. I saw Marcus Mariota and Royce Freeman bulldoze Florida State in the Rose Bowl, and then got to enjoy the spectacular downward spiral of the Ducks program that started with a beat-down from Ohio State in the National Championship that same season. Hell, this last season, I even got to see a real coaching controversy! So yeah – I’ve gotten to experience pretty much every emotion associated with sports.

I am a second year University of Oregon student passionate about all of Oregon’s teams. I spend most of my free time watching movies and playing video games. Having played Football, Basketball, Soccer, and Baseball as a child I’ve cultivated a passion for the beautiful world of sports. I’ve recently fallen in love with the esports industry. My passion for video games and sports combine in the realm of professional video gaming. My life revolves around working towards a dream job in esports, making the most of my college experience, and taking time to bring joy to the world around me. Writing this bio was actually rather challenging but I’m sure writing about the Oregon Ducks will come smoother and I’m excited to share my work with this lovely audience.

Growing up in Southern California, I fell in love with sports at a very young age. Los Angeles sports is what shaped my love and passion for the world of sports; through this city’s historic teams and passionate fan base, I developed a strong connection with sports and my teams in LA. I have experienced many incredible sports moments in my life, and as a diehard LA Sports fan I have truly been blessed with many defining moments in sports history. From the Kobe Shaq era of the Lakers, to USC’s dominate run in College Football, to Kobe reviving the LakeShow for back-to-back titles, to the Kings’ improbable run in the NHL, there has been no shortage of excitement in the City of Angels. My passion for LA sports has never dwindled, even as an Oregon State graduate, my love for this city’s teams has grown even stronger along with my love of Beaver athletics.

I was born into the college football-crazed state of Tennessee in 1998, the same year that the University of Tennessee won their only football national championship of the last fifty years. Thanks to my alum father, I grew up a proud Vols fan. But right when I really started caring, Tennessee began their decade of ineptitude, and that pretty much sums up my sports fan career. The teams I really care about are doomed to let me down. I’m hoping to not bring that same bad luck to Stanford, the school from which I will hopefully graduate in 2021. Still, the innate Tennessee passion for college football runs through my veins. I’ll bring that same passion to all my Stanford coverage, something I have some good practice with thanks to my work with the Stanford Daily. When I’m not binge watching the greatest sport on earth, I love to run and plan on majoring in History.

I spent most of my childhood playing sports, and when I was resting up for the next day’s adventures, I was watching ESPN. I was born and raised in LA, so go Lakers, Dodgers, Eagles, (we didn’t have a team for my whole childhood!) Bruins and Kings. I mainly played basketball, baseball, and football growing up, but I’ll argue about any sport to anyone who will listen. I couldn’t leave my city, so I went to the greatest athletic school in the nation and got my degree while rubbing elbows with the UCLA Men’s Basketball Team, getting a PAC-12 Championship ring for my trouble. Now I just watch and write, but I’m still just as invested as if I were shooting the shot or making the pitch.

Hello, reader of this description. My name is Chris Angkico, and I am currently a Communications major at the University of Washington. I’m a lifelong Seattle sports junkie, and when I’m not watching sports I’m probably re-watching Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. When I was a kid, I watched the Huskies play in the old, grimy Husky Stadium against the likes of Oregon’s Johnathan Stewart and USC’s John David Booty (my favorite quarterback name of all time). Now, as a student at UW, I think that our sports teams are collectively competing at unprecedented levels, and that’s a really exciting thing to see. Currently a senior at Mizzou. I'm a journalism major with my emphasis being in print and digital sports. I'm a die-hard San Jose Sharks fan (despite being from Chicago), but have always followed the Cubs and Green Bay Packers. My teams are all over the place, right? Weird. My name is Thomas Floyd, and I cover recruiting for the University of South Carolina. I live an hour east of Columbia, South Carolina and I promise you’ve never heard of my home town I am a high school graduate of The Carolina Academy and I am currently a business student at the University of South Carolina, the greatest University in the country. My name is Noah Patheja. I am currently a Sophomore at the University of South Carolina. I also write for the Daily Gamecock, which is the student paper at USC. I am the youngest of four children, and the only child in my family to not go to college in Alabama, even though my family has no connection to the state of Alabama. I have wanted to go to South Carolina since I was nine, and I was happy to accomplish my life goal of attending my favorite university. I haven’t followed football closely my whole life, but ever since I was 11, I have been fully invested in the Gamecocks, including having season tickets in 2014. A fun fact about me is that my family and I used to be Clemson fans a long time ago when we first moved to South Carolina.

I’m 26 years old. I graduated Tri-County Technical College with an Associate’s Degree in Media Arts Production in May of 2017. My goal is to attain a career in sports media. Sports have always been a huge part of my life. I played baseball, football, basketball, and ran track growing up. I was fortunate to enough to go on to play football in college at Carson-Newman University. Tennessee sports have always been a passion of mine. I grew up about 10 minutes away from Neyland Stadium. My love for football began when I was just a kid. Back in the glory days when The Tennessee Volunteers were beating the Alabama Crimson Tide 38-18. I can remember my dad throwing cookies at the television when we were tied 17-17 in overtime playing against Florida. Tennessee was struggling to move the ball. After two incomplete passes and a penalty to boot, the Vols had 54 yards to go. It was third down and the anticipation was immense. Tee Martin broke loose, scrambling for his life to pick up 14 yards. Now it was up to senior kicker Jeff Hall. His 41-yard kick was dead center. The Vols defense manage to stop Florida and now it was up to Collins Cooper. His 32-yard kick went wide left and the whole state of Tennessee erupted. I will never forget that feeling and to me there's just nothing quite like it. Game days with family and friends are what I live for. Even when the Vols haven't won a single SEC game, I'm all in!

I am from a small town in Southeast Tennessee. I grew up an avid sports fan and played football, baseball and basketball in high school. My sports career ended after graduation but I have continued to work on providing news for the last couple of years. I am a junior at Texas A&M majoring in Journalism and minoring in Communication and Business. If you are ever trying to find me, look for the closest TV with sports on it. If I’m not there, look for the closest golf course. I was born in England and moved to Houston with my family at the age of five. My name is Collin Ginnan and I am majoring in Journalism and Spanish at The Ohio State University. I grew up playing baseball year-round from t-ball through high school and am a diehard Cincinnati Reds fan. Coming from a family of Buckeyes, I was raised living and breathing Ohio State football. I was born into a sports-loving family in Seattle. Some of my earliest memories are of watching the Mariners with my dad and listening to him complain about legendarily mediocre Seahawks coach Dennis Erickson. Over the years, my love for sports has only grown, even though my athletic prowess never blossomed. In 2008, I protested the Sonics moving out of town. In early 2014, I celebrated the Seahawks crushing the Broncos in the Super Bowl in a dead silent Denver sports bar. In 2015, I ran a Seattle sports blog called Emerald City Swagger. My view of the sporting world has increased to include the teams I enjoy watching the Mariners battle every year in the American League West.

My name is Jakob Lucas, and I am a lifelong Orioles fan. I was born at the dawn of the dark ages, so I did not know a winning Orioles team until 2012. I am fortunate to live a few miles from Camden Yards and when I can score some tickets, find myself there on a humid summer night screaming my throat raw. I’m a die-hard White Sox fan who grew up during the Frank Thomas era. I’m a high school history teacher by day, and a wannabe GM, well, all the time. I live out that fantasy on MLB 18: The Show, but I regret to inform you that even I still have not helped the White Sox rebuild turn the corner. I once got an autograph from Kevin Tapani during warm-ups by walking to the front row and shouting “Hey, Kevin! Will you sign this?” I was eight. Now, chasing autographs is on my Murtaugh list. But, I do have an amazing wife and two wonderful kiddos. I can’t wait to see who their favorite players will be growing up and who they will hound for autographs! Marrying my best friend and the birth of my children are the three greatest days of my life. Behind those major life events is Mark Buehrle’s perfect game and the entire 2005 season. I’m honestly just a dad trying to watch a game whenever possible and hoping my children fall in love with baseball the way I did.

My name is Ryan Kanne, and I am a journalism major at Emerson College. I am a born Chicago sports fan but grew up in Chino Hills, California. No, I don't know the Ball brothers, but I did go to their rival high school. Hey there, my name’s Taylor. I love the Yankees. And I love writing. One day, I took it upon myself to combine the two and realized I’d determined my dream job. Baseball is my favorite sport, because it is so much more than just a game. It’s taught me the importance of determination and hard work. There’s nothing like Yankees culture: it’s all about passion, class, and winning. Brett Gardner and Aaron Judge are my two favorite players on the current roster. I’ve been fortunate enough to have had some pretty incredible experiences at the stadium and look forward to the future of the Yankees. On April 15, 1990 I walked out the womb with an Atlanta Braves hat, Ole Miss Rebels football jersey, and Memphis Grizzlies basketball shorts (yea predicted the future) on. All I have ever known or talked about my entire life is sports. The only video games I have ever played are Madden, NBA LIVE or 2K, NCAA Football (rest in peace), or MLB 2K (also RIP). I know the height, position, and college of every player in the NBA, yet I couldn’t remember anything in biology class in high school or college. I have dominated fantasy baseball leagues for years because of my farm system knowledge and my competitive nature on the waiver wires. If my tv is on its either Impractical Jokers or sports. If I can’t watch my game live, it is recorded and I am so dedicated that I will not check social media until I watch the game. Sports and writing about sports has been my passion for life. Covered high school football as a high schooler instead of sitting in the stands and going out to parties after. This is what I breathe and sleep.
