No UFC Fight Night this weekend? No problem. No Bellator MMA card this weekend? No problem there, either.
Even though Bellator and the UFC are dark this coming weekend, there’s still plenty of MMA to talk about and plenty of fights to watch.
Friday night, the Super Bowl weekend begins on UFC Fight Pass with a twin-bill of MMA shows.
The action begins at 8 p.m. EST, 5 p.m. PST from Pembroke Pines, FL’s Charles F. Dodge City Center for M-1 Global’s Road to M-1 USA 4, continuing at 10 p.m. EST, 7 p.m. PST with LFA 81 from Costa Mesa, CA. More on LFA 81 later on this week.
Road to M-1 USA 4 features five mixed martial arts contests in the Sunshine State, headlined by a three-round main event in the M-1 Global Welterweight division.
In the main event on Friday night, Michael Lombardo (9-2, 1 NC) will battle Jose Caceres (15-9, 1 NC).
Contender Comparison
Heading into the Friday night headliner, Jose Caceres is the taller fighter at 6-foot-2, two inches taller than Michael Lombardo’s frame at six feet even.
Michael Lombardo has posted a record of 3-1 with one no-contest in his last five MMA appearances, most recently fighting to a no-contest vs. Hugh Pulley back in November during Combat Quest 5 in that card’s main event.
In the other corner, Jose Caceres has posted a record of 2-2 with one no-contest in his last five contests, most recently defeating Jason Norwood by unanimous decision on Nov. 9 in Combate Americas’ Combate 49 in San Antonio.
The Tale of the Tape
Tapology shows that Jose Caceres has a two-inch reach advantage (74 inches to 72 inches) heading into the Friday night main event.
Prediction: Michael Lombardo by decision.
Four other fights make up Friday night’s card
John Michael Escoboza (1-2) vs. Kendly St. Louis (2-2) [Welterweight, co-main event]
Michael Rodriguez (3-0) vs. Carlos Espinosa (3-3) [Featherweight]
Walter Gomez (1-1) vs. Kenny Porter (3-2) [Bantamweight]
