Former Wisconsin Badgers point guard Bronson Koenig is officially on an NBA team. He announced via his Instagram on Thursday afternoon that he will join the Milwaukee Bucks.
Koenig signed what is known as a “two-way” contract, which indicates that the Lacrosse native will spend the lion’s share of the season with the Milwaukee Bucks’ Gatorade League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd, who will be playing its games in Oshkosh, Wis. But the point guard can spend up to 45 days with his parent NBA club (the Bucks). Koenig will be joined by former VCU star JeQuan Lewis in the two allotted two-way roster spots.
Oshkosh is a city of over 65,000 located about 90 minutes north of Milwaukee.
It’s another literal geographic progression right (Lacrosse, Madison, Milwaukee) and giant figurative progression up for the player who has captivated Wisconsin basketball fans since his high school days.
For the player that had offers all over the country coming out of high school and decided to stay home, it is a very fitting next move for our Mr. Wisconsin.
Forward, Bronson, the whole state is rooting for you.
