Devin Booker Drops 70, NBA’s Highest Scoring Performance since Kobe’s 81

In a game for the ages, Devin Booker joins elite company after remarkable 70 point performance.

Devin Booker’s old enough to be playing in the Kentucky-UCLA game tonight. Instead the 20 year old casually exploded for 70 (Seventy!) points on the Celtics.

Tonight Booker put on the best single game scoring performance in the last 11 years - the most points since Kobe dropped 81 in January of 2006. He set the record for most points EVER by a Sun, became the sixth player to eclipse the 70 mark, scored the tenth most points in a single game, and had the highest scoring game in the historic TD Garden, all while putting up unbelievable numbers from the field and the line.

He shot 21-40 (53%) from the field, and an absurd 24-26 (92%) from the free throw line.

The Suns came into the Boston on a six game losing streak, on the second night of a back to back, and with a depleted roster of only eight active players. It was no surprise that they went into halftime down 23, a game that became near unwatchable for Suns supporters. Then Booker happened.

Although the Suns ultimately lost 130-120, Devin Booker displayed his prized scoring ability, going off for 51 during the 24 minutes of second half basketball. He scored from everywhere: around the rim, beyond the arc, in the midrange.

In the process, he was also able to grab eight rebounds and dish out six assists. Overall, his historic performance will be remembered as one of the best single game performances the league has seen in its 71 year existence. Phoenix has a special talents in the 20 year old Booker.
