The Denver Broncos must be excited with Jamaal Charles almost back to speed.  Charles is showing his explosiveness during OTA’s, but was noted as needing some more time to be at full speed.  If he is able to heal  by mid-summer, Charles could essentially see significant playing time in the preseason. Of course all of this depends on the progress of C.J. Anderson.  Anderson is also coming off injury and it will be interesting to see how these two compete into the season.

But the two players that are stealing the show are fellow rookies Isaiah McKenzie and Carlos Henderson.  Their speed is showing up during OTA’s and they are making big plays.  The Broncos lacked a true third threat at receiver last season.  Henderson and McKenzie bring speed and athleticism which could open up big plays for other wide-outs.  This does depend on quarterback play and adjusting to Mike McCoy‘s system.

Finally, Paxton Lynch has been taking more reps with the 1st string.  Trevor Siemian is still getting reps, but it makes fans wonder if Lynch has gained the upper hand.  Reports are that Lynch is more decisive and is making plays with his athleticism.  Siemian can still make the throws, but he can run like Lynch and create more time.  The quarterback battle is heating up in Denver, but fans won’t know who is starter nearer to the end of preseason.

Other Notes:

  • Safety Will Parks is waiting a ruling for his punishment during a domestic incident in March.  Parks could also not be punished, but the league has been more crucial with domestic cases.
  • Ty Sambrailo has formally moved into competition for the left tackle position.  Sambrailo was injured 2015 and struggled last season.
