After finishing in the bottom half of the Big Ten in 2018, Wisconsin recruiting is already off to a white-hot start for 2019. While it is still early, the Badgers have already collected verbal commits from four 4-stars; Wisconsin signed only one 4-star prospect in 2018. Currently, the Badgers are good for the top-ranked class in the Big Ten and the third best in the country. Here is a look at the current 4-star commits to Madison.
Logan Brown is an offensive tackle out of Grand Rapids, Mich. Brown stands at 6-6, 285 pounds and committed on Nov. 19.
Joe Tippmann is another 6-foot-6 offensive tackle committed to the Badgers for 2019. Tippmann is out of Fort Wayne, Ind. He has six offers: Wisconsin, Cincinnati, Ball State, Indiana, Iowa, Purdue and Northwestern.
There is no question that the University of Wisconsin has been known for its tight ends over the years. With Hayden Rucci, Paul Chryst’s staff looks to continue that tradition of hard-nosed Midwestern football. Rucci is 6-5, 225 pounds and out of Lititz, Pa.
Any way you cut it, elite quarterbacks are simply not something that Wisconsin is known for. In recent memory, the only quarterback that truly fills this measure would be current Seahawk Russell Wilson, who was a transfer. Graham Mertz may very well change that stigma in Madison. A pro-style quarterback, Mertz should fit perfectly into Wisconsin’s system and add a key piece Badger fans have been searching for.
Mertz also received an offer from Alabama on Monday.
