The Grand Finals of the sixth season of the Rocket League Championship Series is coming up on November 9-11. Over the weekend we learned the teams who will be competing for championship crown that currently belongs to Team Dignitas.

Round of 6

We Dem Girlz (4) vs. mousesports (0)

Last time these teams faced off, We Dem Girlz won three games to one. This time was more of a telling story of the problems mousesports can work on in the offseason. A lot of their overall positioning could be better and they need to work on defense a lot more I would say. A few goals by We Dem Girlz could have easily been stopped if they just had a better position on the ball. In this series, the best player would be Remco “remkoe” den Boer due to the fact of being a saving machine. He saved nine shots of the mouse’s 27 shots, the highest percentage of anyone on the team. We Dem Girlz showed a lot of attack throughout this series shooting the ball 26 times, but unlike Mouse, they capitalized on their chances. In their sweep, We Dem GIrlz clinches a spot in the Grand Finals.

Vitality (2) vs. PSG eSports (4)

The most surprising series of the day. PSG earlier in the season was not looking like the team they hoped being after starting the season 1-4 going into the final two weeks. However, they bounced back and continued their hot streak by beating the team that swept them earlier in the season by scoring nine times compared to Vitality’s five. Victor “Ferra” Francal was the real winner of this entire series I would say. He scored a goal in an overtime that lasted six and a half minutes! However, he did have help with that goal. Emil “Fruity” Moselund came into the goalie’s box and gave a much-needed demolition to give his team the win. With this win, they clinched a spot in the Grand Finals and will face off against Oceania’s number two seed, Chiefs Esports Club.

Semifinals

FlipSid3 Tactics (2) vs. We Dem Girlz (4)

Coming off a sweep can sometimes be challenging. Will that team come off as strong as the last series, or will they have a setback? This series showed that We Dem Girlz and FlipSid3 can be even competitors and give us a great show. They exchanged wins until We Dem Girlz got back to what made them successful in their first series, scoring. In the first four games, We Dem Girlz scored only five goals compared to scoring 13 in their four-game series against mousesports. In the final two games, they scored six compared to two goals for FlipSid3. The series ended in an overtime win for We Dem Girlz with Otto “Metsanauris” Kaipiainen scoring the late goal. Overall, FlipSid3 won the goal differential with their two blow out wins, 12 to 2 in those games. However, only scored two goals in the other four games. We Dem Girlz will now face Cloud9 in the Quarterfinals of the Grand Finals.

Team Dignitas (4) vs. PSG eSports (2)

This is probably the second biggest surprise series of the day. PSG won the first two games of the series is in a great spot against the reigning champions. However, Dignitas regrouped and came out swinging in the next four games, scoring 15 goals while PSG only scored four goals in this span. The best player of the series would be Pierre “Turbopolsa” Silfver who scored nine of the 15 goals for his team, while also accounting for seven saves as well.

3rd and 4th Place Match

FlipSid3 Tactics (4) vs. PSG eSports (1)

Going into this series, PSG was feeling pretty good about themselves probably; getting into the Grand Finals and having a 2-0 lead against the reigning champions. However, three of five of these games went into overtime, with two of them being won by FlipSid3. Not the best overall series for PSG. They scored the goals in order to win, nine goals, but could not keep FlipSid3 away from their own goal, giving up 13 goals. Maurice “Yukeo” Weihs was the best all-out player for FlipSid3, he scored six times, at least one goal in each game, and saved the ball 10 times. FlipSid3 will now face off against G2 Esports in the Quarterfinals of the Grand Finals in Las Vegas.

Finals

Team Dignitas (4) vs. We Dem Girlz (0)

At first glance, a sweep usually means a team was not phased by the other team at all, and the score differential tends to show that. However, in this series, the goal differential was not so far apart that it shows a huge gap between these two teams. In all games except for the first, where they lost by two goals, We Dem Girlz only lost by one goal. However, they did not score a goal in game one or game three. Jos “ViolentPanda” van Meurs shot the ball 11 times, being the unlikely shot taker of this team. However, only two of those went into the goal. Jordan “EyeIgnite” Stellon was We Dem Girlz’s bright spot of the series giving his team nine saves along with nine shots, three going in. Team Dignitas clinch a perfect regular season and will be the favorite to win it all come to Las Vegas.

I have played video games almost daily since the release of the great Playstation. I am a huge fan of the best football team in America, the New York Jets. This great team depresses me everyday with their choices and their own play, but I still love them somehow. There are a few great moments during my fandom, but mostly bleek depression. I became a Jets fan because my parents were born in New York, and then my father has grown up with the Jets, and passed that down to me, and let me know “it’ll be a depressing life.” I tend to enjoy single player games, but i enjoy one multiplayer game, Rocket League. Rocket League has been a hobby of mine used to hang out with friends, to scream at my phone screen during RLCS, but also continually learn how bad I am at it once I play online, or with friends.
