After a big win last week over South Carolina Kentucky also took a huge loss on the defensive side of the ball. Kash Daniel was ejected from the game last week after a targeting call. Not only did they lose him for that game but they will also lose him for the first half against Texas A&M.  This is going to be a huge loss. Here’s how it will affect the team.

Leadership

Kash is one of the returning players for Kentucky this season.  Not only is he a returner but he also may be the vocal leader for this Kentucky team.  He leads not only in the locker room but he also leads by example on the field.  With over 30 tackles for the season his first half absence will be crucial.  This means Josh Allen will have a even more important role on Saturday.

Consistent play

One of the best attributes of Daniel is how consistent he’s been throughout this season.  One of the key concerns for this Kentucky team has been their depth on the defensive side of the ball. With him out it will be interesting to see who steps up for the defense.  After sitting out one half expect Daniel to come out with a chip on his shoulder and add to his huge season.

The past two weeks Daniel has had 11 total tackles in each game.  Although he may be sitting out half the game he will have a huge game against the Aggies.  With a win over A&M Kentucky will be off to their best start since 1950.  This is also a huge matchup because Mark Stoops used to coach under Jimbo Fisher at Florida State.  With all these story lines BBN is in for a treat this Saturday.
