Chicago Bears Key Player: Tarik Cohen
The rookie runner has wasted no time in making an impression with his team. With Jordan Howard questionable for Sunday, the Bears may opt to lean on Cohen for a full workload. In his limited playtime this season, Cohen has totaled 102 yards and one touchdown. And he’s done all of this on just 12 attempts with 16 receptions. Keep an eye on the backfield for the small, but fierce running back.
Pittsburgh Steelers Key Player: Martavis Bryant
If last Sunday’s game against the Vikings showed the Steelers anything, it’s that Martavis Bryant still has speed and can still catch. His suspension has been highly documented, but last week highlighted what may be the first signs of the young receiver gaining his chemistry back with Big Ben. Bryant logged 3 receptions for 91 yards and one touchdown. Roethlisberger loves the deep ball and Martavis can certainly deliver that. If these two can get in sync, it will be one deadly combo.
GAME PREVIEW AND ANALYSIS
The Steelers are riding high with a perfect 2-0 record, while the Bears are last in the NFC North at 0-2. The Steelers’ defense looks like a completely refocused unit when compared to last year. Albeit, they have faced a rookie QB playing his first game in DeShone Kizer and a career backup in Case Keenum.
This week, the tale may be more of the same as this is Mike Glennon‘s first season as a starting quarterback. He has a career record of 5-15, but his stats say otherwise with over 4,000 passing yards, 32 TDs and 17 interceptions. The explosive threat of Tarik Cohen out of the backfield may cause some headaches for the Steelers’ defense if he is not contained.
For the Steelers to have a chance of getting to 3-0, the pass rush must continue to play at the level it has been at. Through the first 2 games, the defense has accumulated 9 sacks on opposing QBs. Getting this pressure almost always leads to a mistake of some sort. The more times the defense can cause ruckus and in turn give the ball back to the quadruple B’s, the better chance they have at getting the win.
In the end, the Bears are still a young team with holes to fill. The experience of the Steelers, along with the ever-improving play on both sides of the ball will help them win out and improve to 3-0.
