GAME RECAP

After a disappointing second round exit in last year’s NCAA Tournament, Villanova brought back an experienced group that was keen on making another deep run similar to their 2016 championship run. Well the Wildcats are one step closer to realizing the ultimate goal after a workmen-like performance against Texas Tech. Despite just shooting 33.3 percent from the field, Villanova crashed the glass for 20 offensive rebounds and limited the Red Raiders to just 33 percent shooting in a 71-59 victory.

Junior Jalen Brunson led a balanced attack with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists, while junior forward Eric Paschall earned himself a double-double with his 12 points and 14 rebounds. The Wildcats head to San Antonio seeking their second national title in three seasons.

PLAYER OF THE GAME

The Wildcats didn’t shoot well at all in this game, but second chance opportunities were the difference and no one crashed the glass better than junior forward Eric Paschall. The 6-9 forward had a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds, 6 of which came on the offensive end.

Growing up I knew two things, I loved sports and I was a talented writer. With that in mind I set out to begin my career in sports journalism. As a lifelong fan of Spartan athletics, I decided to attend MSU and later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in journalism. My other sports passion is Detroit sports, specifically the Detroit Lions (still waiting to witness my first playoff win). Since graduating from MSU, I have had the opportunity to write for various publications including MLive and Detroit Sports Nation. I am now excited to join Armchair All Americans and help cover Michigan State recruiting. Besides sports, I enjoy playing video games and listening to all kinds of genres of rock music. I currently reside in Grand Rapids, Michigan with my wife Melissa.
