The world of recruiting is a never ending one. Moments ago, Bryson Eason committed to Jeremy Pruitt and the Vols for the 2020 class. About five minutes later, teammate Martavius French pulled the trigger. Then, about two minutes after that, Tamarion McDonald jumped in as well. This is my third time writing a commitment article within the span of about an hour, (great problem to have though). It looked like this was becoming a real possibility. Eason had been leaning to the Vols for a while now, and had even been showing support for Tennessee on social media recently. In this morning’s article, we showed the tweet of him trying to sway newly de-committed teammate French to the Vols. Eason must have decided that he would take matters into his own hands and lead the pack. But not to be outdone, his linebacker partners followed suit.

So lets clean this up and recap. Within the span of a few days, we’ve went from:

Arkansas commit

Mississippi State commit

First, let’s take a closer look at Bryson Eason. The 6’2″ 250lb inside linebacker fits perfectly into Jeremy Pruitt’s 3-4 system. He displays terrific athleticism for an inside backer, and obviously has enough weight to come down in the box and stuff the run. Eason is able to fight through blocks with ease and secure a ton of tackles. With the Vols losing senior Daniel Bituli after this season, Eason should come in and compete for playing time immediately alongside stud freshman Henry To’oto’o.

Next, there’s Martavius French. The former Arkansas commit is built nearly the same as Eason, just about 10lbs lighter. He also projects as an inside backer, but could possibly move to the outside as well. Excellent athleticism and probably a little faster than Eason.

Last, Tamarion McDonald. McDonald is the hybrid of the trio, playing outside linebacker as well as safety. At 6’2 220lb, he’s the toughest to project. I would personally see him as a safety, but it could come down to which position needs more depth. That’s no knock on McDonald though, more of a testament to his versatility.

Here’s a look at what each commit brings to the table:
