Jacare Souza meets Jack Hermansson in a Middleweight headliner this Saturday in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

First off, a postscript regarding Wednesday night’s WXC Warrior Wednesday 2 event on UFC Fight Pass:

Daron Cruickshank’s scheduled fight against Chris Brown was canceled, this after Brown missed weight at Tuesday’s weigh-in. In addition, Cruickshank, who will next fight in July in RIZIN Fighting Federation, announced on
Wednesday that he and his wife are expecting their first child. All of us at Armchair congratulate the Cruickshank family.

The other half of this Saturday’s MMA twin-bill stateside comes your way from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida’s BB&T Center. UFC on ESPN+ 8 (main card Saturday 9 p.m. EDT, 6 p.m. PDT, following prelims after the NFL Draft on
ESPN and early prelims at 5:30 p.m. EDT, 2:30 p.m. PDT on ESPN2) is highlighted by a non-title main event in the Middleweight division.

In Saturday’s main event, No. 4 contender Jacare Souza (26-6, one no-contest), is scheduled to meet No. 10 contender Jack Hermansson (19-4) in a five-round fight. Both fighters are coming off victories in their most recent appearances.

Contender Comparison

Heading into the fight, both contenders are level in height at 6-foot-1.

Jacare Souza has posted a record of 3-2 in his last five UFC appearances. Most recently, he scored a third-round knockout victory over Chris Weidman in UFC 230 on Nov. 3 on pay-per-view in the co-main event.

In the other corner, Jack Hermansson has gone 4-1 in his last five fights, including a victory via first- round submission in his last fight vs. David Branch in the co-main event of last month’s UFC on ESPN 2 in Philadelphia.

The Tale of the Tape

UFC.com shows that Hermansson owns 5.5-inch advantages in both reach (77.5 inches to 72 inches) and leg reach (46.5 inches to 41 inches) over Jacare Souza heading into this main event.

Prediction: Jack Hermansson by first-round knockout.

Other fights on Saturday night’s main card
