Jim Harbaugh and his coaching staff have put together a solid year on the recruiting trail, pouring in the nation’s No. 4 overall recruiting class for 2019, per ESPN.

The Wolverines’ class fell short behind only the likes of Texas A&M, Georgia, and Alabama.

The class included two standout prospects at positions, with five-star safety Daxton Hill and four-star running back Zach Charbonnet leaping out as potential immediate impact-makers.

Daxton Hill – five-star Safety, Tulsa, Oklahoma

Hill’s recruitment was one of the most entertaining cases of the year, as he initially committed to play for the Wolverines in mid-September. Just a week ago, he decommitted from Michigan and flipped to Alabama, and shocked the nation on signing day as he put pen-to-paper and signed to play for Jim Harbaugh.

Hill was the nation’s number one safety in the nation, and he will be looking to get on the field as a freshman. Senior Tyree Kinnel will be graduating in the spring, and former 4-star Jaylen Kelly-Powell has struggled to see much action throughout his first two years in Ann Arbor.

Hill was an impressive playmaker at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma with elite athleticism that he displayed on both sides of the football. At 6-feet tall and weighing 186 pounds, Hill ran an official 4.30 40-yard dash, and possesses a vertical of nearly 44 inches.

Zach Charbonnet – four-star RB, Westlake Village, California

With a thinning running back room at the end of this season, California native Zach Charbonnet is a legit option to get a bulk of the carrying duties next season. Already at an impressive 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, Charbonnet has been described as “a hard running back with a thick body, and the ability to carry 215 pounds with ease,” according to his report in 247 Sports.

Charbonnet is ranked as the third-best running back in the class, the sixth-best player from the state of California, and the 42nd best player in the country. As a college-ready running back, Charbonnet could step right into the backfield limelight following the graduation of senior Karan Higdon this year.
