While the Toronto Raptors and Golden State Warriors have been dominating the news lately, one thing that recently popped up are rumors surrounding the Brooklyn Nets.

To elaborate on this, recently, Kyrie Irving has stated that he is interested in joining the Brooklyn Nets; however, the Nets already have a good point-guard in D’Angelo Russell. Which brings us to the question, “How does this tie in to the Orlando Magic?”

One of the rumors surrounding the Nets and Russell is how Orlando was listed as one of the teams interested in pursuing the point-guard.

Currently the Magic have two-three point-guards: D.J. Augustin, Michael Carter-Williams, Jerian Grant and Markelle Fultz.

Assuming that the Magic do decide to go after Russell, they may dump one or two of the mentioned guards, possibly Augustin and Grant. Allowing the team to make space for Russell.

Of course, there would still be the issue on what to do with Nikola Vucevic and Terrence Ross, since they will become free agents this upcoming summer, so you now have the issue on who do you keep and who do you let walk. Also, with the emergence of Khem Birch who has been playing phenomenally, it may be clear that other teams would show an interest in him.

Not to mention, there is still the issue with the Timofey Mozgov contract, who signed a 4-year $64 million contract which carried over from his days as a former Laker.

Hypothetically speaking, even if the Magic were to make everything perfect and clear space for Russell, it has been stated that other teams are interested in acquiring the guard. So the Magic would have to set themselves up as a team that has something great to offer.

Obviously it is still early, not to mention this is all “what-ifs” scenarios; however, it will be interesting to see how the roster will look for next season.

My name is Jonathan David and I am from a small town called Green Cove Springs, located in northeast Florida. Originally from Miami, Florida, my family moved up north, as I was entering the fourth grade. Once we moved, I eventually started getting into sports a lot more. I did soccer, basketball and running and pole-vaulting; however, the main sport that I pretty much keep up with is, basketball, specifically the NBA. Although I’ll occasionally watch track and field if it’s on ESPN. There were many reasons why I got into basketball, besides it looking like fun, one reason was because I wanted to be like Bugs Bunny from Space Jam, not Michael Jordan, but Bugs Bunny, and while my dream of being an animated character hasn’t panned out, I still enjoy playing and watching the sport. My favorite NBA team is the Orlando Magic, and I’ve been a fan since Lebron was in Miami, so when they eventually get good, people can’t say I’m a bandwagon fan.
