Following last night’s loss to the Toronto Raptors, the Orlando Magic are now down by one game for the playoffs. Originally leading the series with one game, the Raptors have come back to win two straight, one at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, and the next at the Amway Center in Orlando.

While the losses aren’t anything to truly alarmed about since the Magic are only down a game, the fact of the matter is that they need to find a way to capture the success of game one.

It has been noted that forward Jonathan Isaac had a positive impact in game one, the very game that he had heavy minutes. Whereas, the past two games, Isaac has been playing significantly less minutes.

This leads many in the fan base, including myself, to speculate that there may be a correlation to Isaac playing heavy minutes and the Magic being able to make the game closer.

Issac’s defense making a difference

This is based on the fact that when Isaac covered the Raptors Pascal Siakam, Siakam was 7-of-30 from the floor. When Evan Fournier guarded him, Siakam was able to successfully drive to the hoop.

On the bright side from last night’s game, Kyle Lowry and Kawhi Leonard didn’t make too much of an impact. This can be contributed to the defense of Isaac along with Aaron Gordon on Leonard. DJ Augustin and Fournier played great defense on Lowry.

Additionally, the crowd last night was very energetic bringing energy in the arena that hasn’t been there since 2012.

The Magic will play their next home game this Sunday at 7 p.m. on TNT.

My name is Jonathan David and I am from a small town called Green Cove Springs, located in northeast Florida. Originally from Miami, Florida, my family moved up north, as I was entering the fourth grade. Once we moved, I eventually started getting into sports a lot more. I did soccer, basketball and running and pole-vaulting; however, the main sport that I pretty much keep up with is, basketball, specifically the NBA. Although I’ll occasionally watch track and field if it’s on ESPN. There were many reasons why I got into basketball, besides it looking like fun, one reason was because I wanted to be like Bugs Bunny from Space Jam, not Michael Jordan, but Bugs Bunny, and while my dream of being an animated character hasn’t panned out, I still enjoy playing and watching the sport. My favorite NBA team is the Orlando Magic, and I’ve been a fan since Lebron was in Miami, so when they eventually get good, people can’t say I’m a bandwagon fan.
