South Carolina looks to pull of the biggest win in the Muschamp era against Georgia Saturday in Williams-Brice Stadium. If South Carolina doesn’t win, it won’t be the end of the world, but if the Gamecocks win, they will hold a solid lead in the East and will gain national attention as SEC contenders for the first time in five years. No matter what the result is, I would like to see the Gamecocks do three things against the Bulldogs.

Win the line of scrimmage

The first thing I want South Carolina to do is to hold the Bulldogs to under 100 yards rushing. This is the hardest thing for the Gamecocks, but it could also be the leading factor on who wins this game. Georgia has tons of rushing weapons including D’Andre Swift, Brian Herrien, and Elijah Holyfield. The majority of yards from Coastal Carolina came on the ground, but they also ran a triple option offense. You can bet Muschamp will have this defense ready for Georgia.

Score 30+ points

I would also like to see the Gamecocks put up at least 30 points on Georgia’s defense. The Gamecocks put up 49 points last week against the Chanticleers, and Muschamp didn’t even keep the starters in the whole game. Although Georgia’s defense is a lot better than Coastal Carolina, 30 points is a fair amount to put up against a team that lost a lot of defensive talent from last year. The Gamecocks also have so many offensive weapons that they should easily score 30.

Rush for 200+ yards

The last thing I want to see the Gamecocks do is put up at least 200 yards rushing. Georgia knows about how dangerous Deebo Samuel and Jake Bentley are, but they won’t be prepared for the improved ground game. The Gamecocks put up 263 rushing yards last week, and they averaged 6.9 yards per carry. With Rico Dowdle healthy, the Gamecocks should surprise Georgia’s defense.

Although Georgia will be challenging, the Gamecocks should be able to win this one. Accomplishing these three goals will be the biggest challenge.

My name is Noah Patheja. I am currently a Sophomore at the University of South Carolina. I also write for the Daily Gamecock, which is the student paper at USC. I am the youngest of four children, and the only child in my family to not go to college in Alabama, even though my family has no connection to the state of Alabama. I have wanted to go to South Carolina since I was nine, and I was happy to accomplish my life goal of attending my favorite university. I haven’t followed football closely my whole life, but ever since I was 11, I have been fully invested in the Gamecocks, including having season tickets in 2014. A fun fact about me is that my family and I used to be Clemson fans a long time ago when we first moved to South Carolina.
