Texas Christian University is excited for the 2016-2017 college football season. With the spring game set to be played this Friday, Horned Frogs fans are anxious to see what the team is going to look like this season. Here are three key things for frog fans to look for at the spring game:
1: Who is going to take the reins as starting quarterback? Most people believe that Kenny Hill will be the starting QB this season. However, it is still a two horse race between Hill and Foster Sawyer. It all depends on which Hill we see in the spring game. If we see the “Kenny Trill” that broke Johnny Manziel’s records in his first college game, then he will be the starting QB. But if we get the “not so trill” Kenny Hill, then the spot is up for grabs.
2: What will the offense look like without Trevone Boykin, Josh Doctson, and Aaron Green? The Horned Frogs’ offense, losing many superstar seniors, will have all new starters in the backfield. With a new starting quarterback and new starting running back, we will see if the Frogs uptempo offense will be as electric as it was last year.
3: How much improvement will we see in the TCU defense? As long as injuries cease to plague the Frogs’ defense, we should expect a much better defense this season. The Horned Frogs are much more experienced defensively this season and could possibly have up to four defensive starters returning via medical red shirts. With coach Gary Patterson (being traditionally known for his great defense) and more defensive experience, TCU has a chance at being one of the best defenses in the country this upcoming season.
Bonus: At last years spring game, TCU revealed new uniforms. Could we see some new uniforms at this year’s spring game?
Texas Christian University is set to play its spring football game Friday, April 1, in Amon G. Carter Stadium. The event will open to the public at 6 p.m. CT.
