All-star weekend in Charlotte is now over, and now the real work begins for the Philadelphia 76ers.
Entering the break, the Sixers played well with the new additions general manager Elton Brand made to the roster. Since the arrival of Tobias Harris and some rotational players, they are 3-1 and have been difficult for opposing teams to defend.
The Sixers face a tough challenge for their final 24 games. They must balance easing the new guys into the rotation, while winning as many games as possible.
As it currently stands they are 37-21, good enough for the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. In the playoffs started today, they would face the Boston Celtics in the first round without home-court advantage.
The good news is that they trail the third-seed Indiana Pacers by only one game. Like last season, the Sixers goal should be getting that third seed at worst.
Validation of “The Process”
The new-look Sixers are gracing the cover of this week’s Sports Illustrated and it should be a scary sight for the rest of the league.

It became clear during the trade deadline that the Sixers organization believed this team could make a deep playoff run with the addition of Harris.
This lineup was years in the making thanks to Sam Hinkie and his long-term plan to make this team a perennial championship contender.
He had his own unique methods, and even lost his job because of his open approach to tearing down a team and rebuilding it from the foundation.
Many fans, media and players laughed at the organization for years. Those laughs have died down rather quickly.
