It can be agreed upon that Signing Day was sub-par for the Texas Longhorns last month. It could have just gotten worse. On February 28, Texas signee Reese Leitao was arrested at Jenks High School in Oklahoma. It hadn’t even been a month since the recruit signed with the Longhorns.
Leitao was arrested on possession and intent to sell within 1000 feet of a school. Leitao was caught with 20 Xanax pills and over $1000 in cash on him. Tom Herman released his statement yesterday:
“We’re aware of the situation involving our signee, Reese Leitao. We’re collecting information, will talk to Reese and his family, let the legal system run its course and then address it further at the appropriate time.”
It seems unlikely that Leitao would lose his scholarship to Texas, but anything is in play. This is the first time the public will be able to see how Herman handles situations like this and will be a good indicator for future issues.
