For the first time at the helm of the Texas A&M Football program, Jimbo Fisher- along with Trayveon Williams, Erik McCoy and Kingsley Keke- took the podium at SEC Media Days to talk about the upcoming season.

Jimbo Fisher and company spent the day in Atlanta, talking about the 2018 season and changes in the culture around the program. Fisher isn’t messing around and isn’t playing games. He made quite a few comments about how changes must be made to the way the team practices and the product they ultimately put on the field in September.

“We have to play with great toughness and physicality,” Fisher said. “You gotta be able to run the football and stop the run. You have to be tough and skilled. In this league, the guys who control the lines are the guys who win. When I’ve had success, we’ve had tough, physical teams.”

It doesn’t get much bigger and the lights don’t get much brighter than playing Clemson and Alabama within the first four weeks of the season, something that was quickly asked about as Jimbo took the podium. His response is attached below.

Fisher chose junior running back Trayveon Williams, senior defensive linemen Kingsley Keke and junior offensive linemen Erik McCoy to join him for Media Days, each set to be a cornerstone for the 2018 season. One of the highlighted comments from the day centered around the thought of Fisher as the “quarterback whisperer.” When Tray Williams was asked about this title, his first comment was about how loud Jimbo Fisher is and how he truly doesn’t whisper at all.

Speaking of quarterbacks, one of the most important points of Media Days 2018 is that Fisher chose to not bring a quarterback along. To me, this shows that a decision has yet to be made in terms of who will start under center for the Aggies in 2018.

Fisher did, however, outline what he is looking for in a starting quarterback. As it stands, my money is on Kellen Mond based on spring game performances. Of course, I haven’t been in practice with them and I don’t know who has done what. That question went unanswered on Monday and likely won’t be answered for sure until opening day of the 2018 season.
