Tennessee landed a big commitment for the 2017 football season Monday afternoon. Four star running back Ty Chandler has committed to the Volunteers via twitter.

Chandler is 5’11 and 195 pounds and is ranked by 247sports as the number six running back in the 2017 class. In his junior season at Montgomery Bell Academy in Nashville, Tennessee, Ty Chandler rushed for 2,558 yards and 31 touchdowns.

Tennessee coaches were very excited to hear about the news. Coach Butch Jones tweeted this out following the Chandler commitment:

The commitment was a big get for the Vols. With Tennessee’s current running back Jalen Hurd possibly leaving early after his junior season and backup Alvin Kamara in his senior season, Tennessee is in the market for a new back. Ty Chandler will compete with John Kelly, who got some touches as a freshman in 2015 with and finished with 165 yards and a touchdown, and 2016 newcomer Carlin Fils-Aime.

My name is Braden Wood, I grew up in the Nashville area in Tennessee. I’ve always been a University of Tennessee fan and will always bleed orange. Also am a huge baseball fan and will follow the Braves, at least until they trade the team out of existence. I am a sports broadcasting major at “The Peay”… Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tennessee. Yes, I am all things Tennessee, and that does mean the Titans, and i’m not ashamed to admit that…sometimes.
