As the playoffs and the 2018 NBA season comes to an end in the coming week, we continue our rankings of the most impactful players from the Milwaukee Bucks throughout the 2017-2018 season. We’ve already named six great players from this past year. As we start to transition more to role players, we announce our next player who comes in at #7 on our list: Sterling Brown.

Does Brown deserve #7?

We’ll be honest, this is a sleeper pick. Brown came into this season with very minimal expectations. When you look back at the highlights, Brown stands out as one of the best defenders on the team. His overall hustle and hard work that he brought to this year’s Bucks squad was a vital reason as to how Milwaukee was able to make an appearance in the playoffs.

Of course, the main reasons for Milwaukee’s success were Giannis Antetokounmpo, Eric Bledsoe, Khris Middleton and Jabari Parker. We can’t discredit a young and energetic role player who truly made a difference in the Cream City this year. Brown showed true potential for years to come and the numbers only back up our high praise for the young man.

Big Plays on the Court:

Only averaging 14.4 minutes per game, Brown averaged 4.0 points per game as well as 2.6 rebounds and 0.5 assists. We know, those are some low stats. Again, it was his defensive presence and hustle that made him a stand out kind of player. Scoring is important because it ultimately ends up determining who wins and loses a game. The plays that don’t necessarily show up on the stat sheet are crucial.

Brown was the player that had those types of plays. The second round draft pick wasn’t supposed to have an impact on the Bucks’ roster. This is especially true when Milwaukee drafted D.J. Wilson at No. 15 overall. The fact that he showed up this season and contributed as much as possible is why we have him so highly regarded. Don’t be surprised if Brown becomes the next Tony Allen or Avery Bradley.

Hey Guys! Although I go by Jack professionally, my popular nickname is J.T. I’ve been raised in a small suburb outside the great city of Chicago, so obviously I live and breathe Chicago sports. Out of the four major sports (NHL, NFL, MLB, and NBA), I am the most knowledgeable and most interested in the NBA. I can talk for as long as I want about anything relating to the NBA or basketball in general, but I’m not afraid to indulge myself in new sports topics each and every single day. I am currently attending Marquette University and plan to pursue a degree (and hopefully a career) in sports journalism.
