As the trade deadline looms, how will the Islanders look come 3:01 p.m. on March 1st?
There have been many rumors swirling for weeks now. Jon Ledecky gave Garth Snow the green light.
That said, 2 games/6 days to trade deadline and Ledecky has green-lighted Snow. Let's see if he can pull something off.— Andy Graziano (@AndyGraz_SNY) February 23, 2017
“Can Garth Snow land the highly coveted Matt Duchene?”
What will it take? Joe Sakic has stayed his course on what he has wanted, Snow has met his demands and now its all up to Sakic to accept. Will it happen? Nobody knows for sure what will happen come Wednesday. Sakic could wait until the NHL Draft in June to deal Duchene.
At 3:01 pm Wednesday, the Islanders will look better than they were when they started the day. Looking at the Islanders roster right now, it is just not good enough. Snow needs to take a risk at some point, either it be Wednesday or in the off-season.
Bold predictions on what will happen with Islanders on trade deadline day:
- They will acquire Matt Duchene.
- Jaroslav Halak will stay put.
- Acquire either Ryan Nugent-Hopkins or Tyler Johnson if Plan A does not work.
It will be a long day for Islander fans with their fingers constantly hitting the refresh button and hoping something occurs. Snow cannot keep hoarding prospects hoping they become what you think they will be. Get known talent and what you know they can do. There is no IFs when you acquire known raw talent. Joe Sakic will never get a better offer for Duchene. The highest offers come on trade deadline day.
Enjoy the trade deadline Isles fans. There could be lots of snowflakes, or just another wasted opportunity.
