The Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Lakers have not had success in the past few seasons but for both teams’ things are looking up and an old rivalry looks to be reborn.

The story-lines this off season have been focused on the top teams in the NBA like the Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics and others.

It All Starts Somewhere

An interesting battle is happening right now between Sixers center Joel Embiid and Lavar Ball. Lavar Ball is the father of Lonzo Ball, who was drafted second in the draft by the Lakers.

Lavar Ball has taken shots at Embiid and Ben Simmons for their injury history, while Simmons and Embiid have made fun of Lavar Ball on Twitter.

Expect things to escalate once these teams meet up in the regular season.
These guys don’t like each other, which makes for intense battles on and off the court.

I’m sure many reading this article were not around for the battles these teams had in the 1980’s with Magic Johnson’s Showtime Lakers going against Julius Erving’s Sixers. From some of the stories and old videos online, it would be great to get a chance to renew it now.

All rivalries start somewhere and maybe this one has already started thanks to social media.

Hopefully the next generation gets to live out the next great battle. Something like this to take some light from the Cavs-Warriors could be just what the league wants.

But in the meantime, I got three words for Lavar Ball and the Lakers– Joel “The Process” Embiid.
