The Philadelphia 76ers have high expectations entering the 2017-2018 season. Pretty unusual feeling since it finished last season with just 28 wins.
But when asked about the Sixers chances of making a return to the playoffs for the first time since 2013, some of the greatest basketball players in Sixers history are all-in on their chances.
Charles Barkley told CSN Philly it would be “shocking if the Sixers don’t make the playoffs.”
“The Sixers are a lock to make the playoffs,” said Barkley.
Barkley credited the work of Brett Brown and Bryan Colangelo for adding pieces to help Joel Embiid. Embiid’s health will be key in the 76ers making that prediction true.
He is not alone in his assessment. Julius Erving (Doctor J) recently told CSN Philly’s Jessica Camerato his opinion on the Sixers chances.
Dr. J on the Sixers this season: "I think we should make a good run at the playoffs."— Jessica Camerato (@JCameratoCSN) September 9, 2017
We Should Listen
Erving and Barkley are not the type of people who just say what the people want to hear.
What I like the most is they seem confident the Sixers will not let them down.
They have been around the league long enough now to be able to understand if a team has what it takes to make the playoffs. Their statements show they have confidence this young team appears to have what it takes.
Hopefully, health is on the Sixers side because it appears that will be the only reason why they wouldn’t make the playoffs.
