Chris Ash and the Rutgers Scarlet Knights just scored a major victory on the recruiting front. Four-star quarterback Artur Sitkowski of IMG Academy (Fla.) flipped his commitment from Miami, verbally committing to the Scarlet Knights.

Standing at a tall 6-foot-6 and weighing in at 215-pounds, Sitkowski immediately becomes the jewel of the Rutgers 2018 recruiting class. He has a strong arm to go along with his tall frame, which allows him to see the field well as a quarterback. Ranked as the fifth best pocket passer in his class (per 247sports), Sitkowski will fit nicely into Jerry Kills pro-style offense. He’ll need to work on his footwork and being more consistent, but overall this is a huge get for the Scarlet Knights

Originally from Old Bridge, New Jersey, Sitkowski says the opportunity to come play at home was the defining factor when committing to Rutgers.

“I cannot let the opportunity to play for my ‘hometown school’ slip past me,” the senior quarterback said.

Sitkowski joins Jalen Chatman as the second quarterback to commit to the Scarlet Knights in this recruiting cycle. Another highly touted quarterback in Zamar Wise, a 2019 recruit, is also committed to Rutgers. Now add in Johnathan Lewis, who has already shown flashes at the college level, the Rutgers quarterback room has a bright future. It will be interesting to see how the competition plays out once Sitkowski gets to campus.

For Rutgers, the transfer of Kyle Bolin has not exactly come to fruition this season, and Gio Rescigno, while solid, is not a quarterback that can take the program to new heights. Plenty believe in Lewis, while Sitkowski is one of the most highly-touted prospects snagged by the Scarlet Knights in a while.

When all is said and done, Sitkowski’s performances once he gets to Piscataway will make the difference. However, there’s no denying the excitement that is budding around Chris Ash’s program these days, thanks in huge part to this recent quarterback coup.

My name’s James King, and I’m a 22-year-old Sports Journalism major at the almighty Rutgers University. I’m from central New Jersey (yes it exists) right on the beach in a town called Neptune. I grew up playing baseball and football, but being 5’7” and deficient of speed doesn’t get you much after high school graduation. My passion for sports and obvious deep love for keyboards has brought me to this lovely place here. I bleed green for my beloved New York Jets (it will sound good one day, just wait). The Boston Celtics and Red Sox hold the other two-thirds of my sports heart. With that said, you can usually find me kicked back somewhere with a brew giving my usually disagreeable sports opinions.
