The Michigan Wolverines will host another ranked Big Ten team in Ann Arbor this weekend. The Revenge Tour will continue with a game against the No. 14 Penn State Nittany Lions. Both teams will enter this game with a win against a ranked team under their belt. The Nittany Lions beat No. 18 Iowa 30-24 and the Wolverines are coming off a bye week and a previous win against the Michigan State Spartans.
Last year when the Wolverines faced the Nittany Lions at Beaver Stadium it didn’t end well for Michigan. Penn State won with a score of 42-13, where Saquon Barkley and Trace McSorley each put up three touchdowns against Don Brown’s defense. The Wolverines want to put this game behind them, they are coming in with a No. 5 ranked team and a No. 1 ranked defense.
Quarterbacks Trace McSorley and Shea Patterson are a pretty even matchup this weekend. Patterson has a little more edge with a higher completion rate, but both are coming in with only a few interceptions this season. It’s a question if McSorley will be able to handle Don Brown’s defense as well as he did at their last encounter. But, judging by Michigan’s season so far and the atmosphere The Big House creates, it won’t be easy.
McSorley won’t be the only one facing Michigan’s daunting defense. Running back Miles Sanders is coming in with an average of six yards a carry and around 800 rushing yards this season. He compares similarly to Michigan’s own star of the running game, Karan Higdon. Higdon has proven himself a force to be reckoned with this season. It will be interesting to see what both of these teams do with the running game this Saturday.
Michigan is predicted to win by 70%, with a spread of about 10.5. The Wolverines will be going for a seven game win streak and starting game three of the revenge tour. Kickoff will be at 3:45 PM.
