The Rocket League Championship Series Season 6 kicked off the group stages with a Round Robin Best of 5 series, to determine which teams are going to compete in the finals, with a prize pool of $500,000.

The North American teams facing off in this year’s Rocket League Championship Series are Cloud9, Evil Geniuses, Ghost Gaming, G2 Esports, NRG Esports, Rogue, FlyQuest, and Allegiance. With Cloud9 coming from a 2v2 victory just a few weeks ago in Season 2 of the Rocket League Universal Open.

These teams will be facing off against each other to produce four North American representatives in the finals. During the Finals, we will also see four European teams, and two Oceania teams face off in the main stage which is being hosted in Las Vegas, NV at the Orleans Arena.

Week 1 for North America proved to show some serious competition as two of the teams went undefeated to secure their top rank in the series so far. Those teams were Cloud9 who won against Rogue (3-0) and G2 Esports who won against Allegiance (3-0).

Cloud9 showed no mercy against Rogue with a 5-3 win in their first match, followed by two 3-0 games after that, Rogue had no chance after the first loss and morale was lost. The series just started so let’s see where they go from here.

G2 Esports picked up momentum as each game went by. Their first win over Allegiance was a tough battle only to secure the victory with one goal. Game 2 was won with a 4-1 slaughter, followed by Game 3 which ended with a 3-1 score.

Last year’s North American winners G2 Esports have a long road ahead of them with the Cloud9 hype riding behind them after the last tournament. These are definitely the teams to look out for in Season 6 of the RLCS, but how will the Europeans perform this year?

North American Standings as of Week 1:

  1. Cloud9 1-0 (3-0)
  2. G2 Esports 1-0 (3-0)
  3. NRG Esports 1-0 (3-1)
  4. Evil Geniuses 1-0 (3-2)
  5. Allegiance 1-1 (3-5)
  6. Ghost Gaming 0-1 (2-3)
  7. Rogue 0-1 (0-3)
  8. FlyQuest 0-2 (3-6)

No, I’m not related to Ace, yes the bologna shares my first name, and I guess I could be a grouch. Now that the name jokes I’ve heard all my life are out of the way, I’m a content creator who focuses on video games and resides in Boston, MA. I bring over 10 years of mixed experience in writing, podcasting, and covering live events. Growing up in Boston, of course, means sports fandom runs through my veins. Chances are you’ll find me at Gillette Stadium sitting in The Fort watching the New England Revolution. They may not be the greatest team but that always makes for an even better underdog story.
