Now with the final six teams, plus two more spots available for the finals in Las Vegas next month, this brings us to the North American Championship Series. Here we up the ante from best of five to best of seven. With Cloud9 and G2 Esports already clinching their spot in the finals, let’s follow through on who else will represent North America in the Finals while crowning a regional champion while we’re at it.

Round of 6

NRG Esports (4) vs FlyQuest (0)

With FlyQuest going from the bottom of the standings to a decent advisory in this competition, it seemed promising they would get far. Unfortunately, NRG showed much more interest in winning and diminished FlyQuest’s chances of participating in the Finals.

Match Scores
  • Game 1: 3-1
  • Game 2: 3-0
  • Game 3: 5-2
  • Game 4: 1-0 (OT)

With this victory, NRG secured their spot in the finals.

Evil Geniuses (4) vs Ghost Gaming (2)

With just one more spot available to the winner of this match to get to the finals, it goes without saying that we should be in for a treat. However the after the first two games, it seemed pretty obvious who was going to win, EG took both of these games only to lose the following two. With both now tied at two games a piece, it came down to whoever was most composed and centered. Game five went to EG with a 3-1, and the with their dreams of going to finals on the line, Game six was a hard fought match where Ghost tried to even the game out and push for a Game seven. Unfortunately for Ghost, Reed “Chicago” Wilen had something else in mind and scored in overtime giving EG the last spot in the finals.

Match Scores
  • Game 1: 3-1
  • Game 2: 2-0
  • Game 3: 1-2
  • Game 4: 1-2
  • Game 5: 3-1
  • Game 6: 1-0 (OT)

Semifinals

Now that we know who is going to represent North America in Las Vegas during the Rocket League Championship Series Season 6 Final, we need to figure out who will be crowned the North American Champions.

Cloud9 (2) vs NRG Esports (4)

With Cloud9 taking the group stages by storm and having already locked their spot in the finals, this series was rather odd, but understandable in a way. Completely out of character C9 gets beat the first three rounds of this series, only to regain composure and win the next two, and lose the last match now giving NRG a spot at the regional finals. No one can help but question if this was done intentionally to mess with the placement for Finals, but it was a very uncharacteristic move on C9’s behalf. With this loss, C9 awaits to compete against the loser of the next match for third place.

Match Scores
  • Game 1: 2-4
  • Game 2: 2-5
  • Game 3: 0-1
  • Game 4: 3-2
  • Game 5: 2-1
  • Game 6: 1-3
G2 Esports (4) vs Evil Geniuses (2)
The complete opposite from the previous match happened here where G2 showed up to play. After taking the first two games, but by a close margin, it seemed like a pretty tense moment for EG as they tried to regroup. In Game three, EG managed to pull off an overtime victory which then started the back and forth. G2 took game four with a score of 3-1, and then EG won game five by a single goal, 0-1. With the winner of this match facing off NRG in the finals, and the loser facing off against C9 for third place, game six went to G2 after an overtime goal from Dillon “Rizzo“.
Match Scores
  • Game 1: 1-0
  • Game 2: 3-2
  • Game 3: 2-3
  • Game 4: 3-1
  • Game 5: 0-1
  • Game 6: 2-1

Third Place

Cloud9 (4) vs Evil Geniuses (0)

C9 showed up to this match wanting to leave a statement, but it leaves us wondering why they didn’t bother going for first place. Their match against NRG seemed like such a throwaway that going into this one it seemed like it was going to be more of the same. Miraculously we ended up seeing C9 at their prime, completely obliterating EG throughout all of their matches.

Match Scores
  • Game 1: 4-2
  • Game 2: 6-1
  • Game 3: 3-0
  • Game 4: 5-2

Finals

NRG Esports (4) vs G2 Esports (2)

The finals to crown the North American Rocket League Champion started off with a great back and forth with one goal victories in the first three games. From then on, NRG showed that they wanted the title more as G2 lost composure and lost the remaining three games by pretty high scores. NRG Esports would go on to easily secure the NA Championship.

Match Scores
  • Game 1: 1-2
  • Game 2: 2-1
  • Game 3: 0-1
  • Game 4: 3-1
  • Game 5: 6-1
  • Game 6: 3-0
