Now that Jabari Parker has officially left the Milwaukee Bucks, it is time to forget about that drama. It is time to move on to new players that are actually going to be representing Milwaukee over the course of the 2018-2019 season. For reference, the Bucks recently signed Ersan Ilyasova and Brook Lopez. They could have important roles for the upcoming season.
A bittersweet reunion?
First off is Ilyasova. The former 2005 draft pick for the Bucks, Ilyasova has already made his fair share of contributions to the franchise and the city of Milwaukee. This reunion between the two parties is almost bittersweet to a point. Averaging 10.9 points per game as well as 5.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists last season, Ilyasova was a great contributor off the bench for the Philadelphia 76ers.
He helped their team make it into the second round of the playoffs. He was a part of a very tough and intense fan base. So, the front office of the Bucks is really depending on him to provide veteran leadership off of the bench with a relatively young roster. Ilyasova was once a key role player for the Bucks. All of Milwaukee hopes that he can be much of the same in his return to the Cream City.
Don’t let the flame die out:
For Lopez on the other hand, this signing would have been off of the charts if it was still 2012. A former star of the Brooklyn Nets and eventually landing with the Los Angeles Lakers last season, Lopez hopes to reignite his career with the Bucks. With great players like Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton and Eric Bledsoe on the roster, Lopez should be able to find an important role on the squad.
Overall, these two signings could prove to be very significant come next April. Ilyasova and Lopez still have some gas left in the tank. Hopefully, their experience and guidance can help fuel the young Bucks past the first round of the playoffs. Only time will tell, but for now, these two signings seem to be looking on the up and up.
