Some might say that the baseball season starts in April. However, for many Cincinnati Reds fans it starts in the third week of January. This week finally marks the beginning of the annual Reds Caravan. From January 26-29, current and former players, minor leaguers, broadcasters and members of the Reds front office will travel through a few states. They will go through Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia, and Tennessee while on the trip.
At these stops, fans will have the opportunity for Q&A and photos, in addition to autographs. In addition, there will be a raffle for two opening day tickets against the Philadelphia Phillies at each stop. There are four different tours of the caravan: The Northern, Southern, Western, and Eastern tours. In conclusion, the Caravan will conclude with all four tours coming together at The Florence Mall on Sunday, January 29.
The Northern Tour will make stops in Columbus, Lima, Dayton, and Hamilton. This group will be headlined by radio broadcaster Marty Brennaman, OF Scott Schebler, C Devin Mesoraco, and former player Dmitri Young.
Meanwhile the Southern Tour will make stops in Louisville, Nashville, Bowling Green (KY), and Lexington. SS Zach Cozart, Manager Bryan Price, OF Adam Duvall, and former player Tom Browning, who threw a perfect game, are all set to appear on the Southern Tour.
In addition, the Eastern Tour includes broadcasters Jeff Brantley and Jim Kelch, GM Dick Williams, recently signed RHP Drew Storen, and former player Eric Davis. This tour is set to make stops in Athens, Charleston (WV), Parkersburg/Vienna, and Ashland (KY).
Finally, the Western Tour will be held in Muncie, Indianapolis, Bloomington, and Evansville. It will bring along broadcaster Thom Brennaman, C Tucker Barnhart, former player Corky Miller, and Fox Sports announcer Jim Day.
Even as the caravan concludes on Sunday night, the hope a winning season never dies with these Reds fans. As they always say, wait til this season.
