West Lafayette Celebrates

Some say it was bound to happen. Purdue‘s dominant 29-point upset over No. 2 ranked Ohio State capped off a four game win streak for the Boilermakers. A win that had fans asking “is this even Ohio State football?” at the end of the game.

The rushing game for Purdue got off to a slow start, but DJ Knox picked it up in the second half. He broke away twice for 45-yard-plus touchdown runs. Knox finished the game with three touchdowns and 128 rushing yards. Purdue scored first and never trailed to the Buckeyes.

Key Factors

Time and time again it has been the outstanding true freshman, Rondale Moore, making plays for Purdue. In this particular game, he recorded two touchdowns and 170 receiving yards. This brings more attention to the young star, and could possibly put him in the Heisman Trophy race.

Another main factor in Purdue’s victory was David Blough. He threw for three touchdowns and went 25-for-43 for 378 yards. This is Blough’s third straight 300-yard passing game, which has contributed heavily in Purdue’s win streak.

What Now For Ohio State?

OSU coach Urban Meyer, said that the Buckeyes’ “weaknesses were exposed.” The defense allowed 49 points and a lot on chunk yardage plays. Their offense did not score a touchdown until the third quarter – though you can give the Boilermakers credit for this.

This shakes up the college football playoff, as Ohio State fell out of the top ten. It will be interesting to see how the Buckeyes bounce back from such a deflating loss.
