GAME RECAP

Day two of March Madness began with another thriller between the 10-seed Providence Friars and the 7-seed Texas A&M Aggies. An exhilarating 40-minute game provided tons of up-and-down action.

However, the opening minutes of the game weren’t so easy to watch, as the Aggies missed their first 10 shots and were held scoreless for the first six minutes. Unfortunately for the Friars, they weren’t able to capitalize on the Aggies early drought, only scoring six points in the span.

The Friars led for a majority of the first half until the Aggies took a 22-21 lead and they never looked back. Despite a battle in the second half, the Friars never saw the lead again in the final 20-minutes. Texas A&M completely turned their offensive approach around after their opening drought, connecting on 26 of their next 42 shots (62%).

The Friars were led by Alpha Diallo and Rodney Bullock. The duo combined for 43 points and 12 rebounds, however, their phenomenal performances weren’t enough for the Friars to advance in the tournament.

The SEC is now 5-0 in the NCAA Tournament.

PLAYER OF THE GAME

Junior center Tyler Davis and sophomore forward Robert Williams deserve the players of the game with their double-double efforts. For just the second time this season, both players reached this mark. Davis and Williams contributed for 27 points and 29 rebounds. The interior presence of Tyler Davis and Robert Williams from Texas A&M played a huge role in this victory. The Friars were manhandled on the glass by a margin of 18 boards and the efforts can be credited towards the two Aggie stars.
