Carolina Panthers Key Player: Ed Dickson

Ed Dickson finds himself with a huge opportunity after star tight end Greg Olsen broke his foot last week. Dickson, while certainly a downgrade from a tight end of Olsen’s caliber, can still be productive in the Panthers’ passing attack. He will have an expanded role for at least the next six weeks while Olsen recovers, and Sunday is his first chance to prove himself against a porous Saints’ defense.

New Orleans Saints Key Player: Drew Brees

I know what you are thinking… superstar quarterback Drew Brees is my player to watch for New Orleans? Yes, he is. The Panthers have given up a mere six points through eight quarters of play this season. Plus their front seven has dominated their opponents’ rushing attacks. The only chance New Orleans has to secure an upset win in Charlotte on Sunday is if Drew Brees puts on a clinic and attack the young Panthers’ secondary. There is little chance the Saints will be able to move the ball on the ground, so it is all up to Drew Brees.

GAME PREVIEW AND ANALYSIS

The Panthers are 2-0 but are still looking to find their way on offense. Sunday provides a golden opportunity against a Saints defense that far from intimidating. Cam Newton will need to have a solid game after two underwhelming performances so far this season. And even though his favorite target Greg Olsen won’t be playing, he should still be able to find his rhythm on Sunday.

The Panthers’ defense will look to continue their hot streak by containing a Saints’ offense that certainly does not lack talent. Drew Brees is one of the top three quarterbacks in the league, and receiver Michael Thomas is an up-and-coming superstar. Divisional games are always unpredictable, and both teams will look to secure their first divisional win of the season on Sunday.

Game Prediction: Panthers 27, Saints 16
