Virginia Tech has been looking for a reliable third option at wide receiver for a couple of years now to go with their two top targets Isaiah Ford and Cam Phillips. Might this player be coming from the basketball team? Senior point guard Devin Wilson says that he is indeed pursing an opportunity to play under new coach Justin Fuente. “It’s my last year, I want to make the best out of it”, said Wilson.
Sources are saying he will play for both teams in the fall and could prove to have a large impact on both programs. This comes also as a trade-off for Virginia Tech’s athletic department. Wilson’s scholarship will count against the football program if he does intend on playing in Lane Stadium this fall, but that also frees up one scholarship for Buzz Williams and the basketball program.
Wilson did not record a catch in the spring game, but nevertheless, eyes around the country were able to see his athleticism and leaping ability that the Hokies’ Football snapchat account captured on a vine during spring practice.
Wilson is 6′-4″ with clear raw talent and could be a big time red zone talent as well as added depth at a position with not a lot of it.
