After five long months since the Philadelphia 76ers season ended in Toronto, it’s time for some redemption.

The new and hopefully improved Sixers are expected to make a strong push to appear in the Finals for the first time since 2001.

They will accomplish that feat this season but won’t finish it off with a championship.

Regular Season Wins Prediction

For the second consecutive season, the Milwaukee Bucks will earn the No. 1 seed with about 58 wins.

The Bucks have several advantages over the once-again newly changed Sixers.

  1. Outside of Malcolm Brogdon, Milwaukee is returning the same team that won 60 games a season ago. Developing chemistry and an identity won’t be an issue, unlike with the Sixers.
  2. Joel Embiid and Al Horford will miss games due to load management, which may cost them a handful of games.
  3. Giannis Antetokounmpo is maybe the best basketball player in the league right now, and he’ll dominate the much weaker conference teams.

Despite missing out on the top seed, the Sixers will finish second with around 55 wins.

Individual players

Expect Embiid to play between 65 games and 70 games, while keeping his minutes below 34 per game. Even with those restrictions he’ll finish top five in MVP voting.

Ben Simmons will jump from 16.9 pointes per game from last season to over 20, thanks to an improved jump shot. He won’t shot as many three pointers as people expect but his mid-range game will help get him there. Simmons is ready to take another step forward in his career.

When all-star weekend comes along three Sixers will make the trip including Tobias Harris, joining Simmons and Embiid. Like during his time with the Los Angeles Clippers, Harris’ three-point percentage will be over 40 percent.

AL Horford won’t be the same exact player than he was in Boston. Horford will spend more time out on the perimeter on both offense and defense. He’ll shot and make more threes than ever before because of Embiid doing more work in the paint.

When the All-Rookie First Team is announced expect to hear the name Matisse Thybulle. He’ll be a big reason the Sixers will end the season as the league’s top defense.

Playoff Predictions

As mentioned earlier, the Sixers will advance to the Finals but come up short.

They’ll run through the east with series wins against the Brooklyn Nets and Boston Celtics in the first two rounds before beating the Bucks in six games.

The run comes to an end with Kawhi Leonard and the Clippers beating them in seven games.

Even the Sixers defense won’t be enough to stop Leonard, Paul George and Lou Williams.

Since the Western Conference is stacked with viable teams so maybe they won’t face the Clippers.

The Los Angeles Lakers, Denver Nuggets, and Houston Rockets are more favorable matchups.
