New Year’s Eve, much like any other holiday, has its traditions, ranging from parties and ball drops at the stroke of midnight, to bowl games in college football and the annual New Year’s marathon of The Twilight Zone episodes on the Syfy Channel.

This year, MMA fans have an all-new tradition to ring in another year, courtesy of the Professional Fighters’ League.

On Monday night, while revelers converge on Times’ Square in New York City for the ball drop, Hulu Theatre at Madison Square Garden will be hosting a celebration of a different type.

It’ll be championship night in the PFL. At stake: Each division’s title belt and a $1 million prize for the winners.

As has been the case all season, NBCSN will televise this week’s card, live at 7 p.m. EST/4 PST, with a rerun immediately following at 11 p.m. EST/8 PST.

We’ve already broken down each division’s title fight over the course of the last couple of months.

(For the record, I like Josh Copeland, the No. 8 seed in the Heavyweight bracket, to defeat No. 3 seed Philipe Lins in the Heavyweight final, along with Ray Cooper III over Magomed Magomedkerimov in the Welterweight final.)

Let’s focus today on the showcase fight between Harrison and Charneski.

Contender Comparison:

Harrison, who signed a contract to participate in the 2019 PFL season as a Lightweight earlier this year, has won two previous showcases in the PFL, bringing a 2-0 MMA record into the fight. Most recently, she defeated Jozette Cotton (third-round knockout) in PFL 6 on Aug. 16.

In the other corner, Charneski, who has gone 3-4 in her professional MMA career, has posted a 2-3 record in her last five MMA appearances. Her last fight occurred on Dec. 29, 2017, a win against Sarah Patterson in Revolution Combat Championships: Vol. 14 (second-round verbal submission.)

Note: Reach information for the fighters was unavailable on Tapology.

Prediction: Harrison by first-round KO.

Enjoy the fights on New Year’s Eve. If you have to go out, please do not drink and drive.

PFL Championships: Monday, Dec. 31 (7 p.m. EST, 4 p.m. PST, NBCSN.)
