The Penguins struck early in the 1st to take the lead in Game 5. They never looked back as they added two more goals in the period and took a 3-0 lead into the 1st intermission. The Predators switched goalies to start the second period to try and stop the flood gates from opening but that was no use as the Penguins poured it on more. Eventually going on to win 6-0.
Sidney Crosby registered 3 assists to pass Mario Lemieux (19) for most Stanley Cup points in Penguins history. He was involved in a controversial play in the first period with PK Subban which shows him continuously smashing Subban’s head into the ice. Both were called for penalties but the NHL should take a look at that play and determine if it’s worth a suspension or just a fine.
Crosby and Subban literally just had a full WWE match behind the net. pic.twitter.com/vWbYNzrdss— Flintor (@TheFlintor) June 9, 2017
The Penguins dominated Game 5 and now it’s onto Smashville to try and hoist the Stanley Cup for a second straight year on the road. Can the Penguins become the 1st team since the 1997-1998 Detroit Red Wings to win back-to-back Stanley Cups or can Nashville force a Game Seven?
