Oregon State is one win away from advancing to another College World Series.

Another large crowd gathered at a rainy Goss Stadium to watch their Beavers take on another foe in their last home series of the season. The Minnesota Golden Gophers (No. 14) had a tough task ahead of them heading to Corvallis, OR for a Super Regional matchup with the No. 3 Oregon State Beavers. The Beavers jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first and Luke Heimlich was electric yet again for OSU.

Heimlich in his final career start at Goss Stadium had everything working on Friday night. And the Beaver offense gave him a lead early following his 1-2-3 first inning. Trevor Larnach and Adley Rutschman hit back-to-back home runs in the bottom half of first and Oregon State never looked back.

Steven Kwan, who was drafted this week in the 5th round of the MLB Draft by the Cleveland Indians, added to their lead with a beautiful bunt to put the Beavs up 4-0 in the second inning.

Luke Heimlich took it from there, and the Gophers never stood a chance following the early lead by the Beavers. Luke was backed by one of the best defensive teams in the country, and they showed up again on Friday to help solidify the win.

Heimlich finished the day with nine strike outs, zero walks, giving up one earned run over eight and two-thirds innings. It was another dominant performance by the Beavers, and their Ace to start Super Regional play. Heimlich, after getting two outs in the ninth inning, was pulled before the final out, to receive a some recognition from the home crowd after his last start at Goss Stadium. Beaver Nation didn’t disappoint:

Heimlich will need to continue his brilliance in Omaha if the Beavers are going to bring home their third Nation Title this summer. OSU will take on Minnesota again on Saturday at 634 PM Pacific, on ESPN2, looking to sweep the Golden Gophers on their way to Omaha!
