After Jason Soares’ knockout performance last Friday, Armchair’s Drew Zuhosky believes it’s time for him to receive a UFC contract.

Did you happen to watch Friday night’s TITAN FC 54 card on UFC Fight Pass from Ft. Lauderdale, FL’s Xtreme Sports Park?
If you didn’t, it’s currently accessible for streaming via replay on the subscription-based streaming.

UFC president Dana White was in attendance at the event, alongside some of the athletes who competed in Saturday night’s UFC on ESPN+ 8 card.

White was there to scout prospective fighters for a future episode of Dana White: Lookin’ For a Fight, set to debut online later this year.

Let me tell you, if there is an athlete who is more deserving of a UFC contract to come out of TITAN FC 54 on Friday night, incumbent TITAN FC Featherweight champion Jason Soares (13-0) has to be that athlete.

In short, he has been awesome in his most recent fights.

Soares, who previously had an opportunity at a UFC contract during his appearance on The Ultimate Fighter television series during its summer 2015 season but lost via decision in a fight aired on the July 17, 2015 episode, has now won three title fights.

He had initially been slated to fight Anderson Hutchinson in the main event last Friday night on Fight Pass, but the latter withdrew from the card after sustaining an injury.

Ariston Franca substituted for Hutchinson on Friday night, with Soares scoring a fourth-round knockout (ground and pound strikes) to defend his belt once more.

In his post-fight interview after the headliner, the victorious champ openly advocated for White to sign him to a UFC deal.

I think this is something that has to be done. In my years of watching mixed martial arts, I have never seen an athlete more talented than Jason Soares.

Even if he headlines a Contender Series episode this summer, there isn’t a doubt in my mind that Jason Soares can contend for the UFC Featherweight title in short order after being signed.

There’s no question that Jason Soares is ready to take on the big stage of the UFC.

There’s also no question that Dana White should sign him to a deal.
