On Tuesday, four-star safety Tyreke Johnson announced his commitment to the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Johnson adds a major boost to the Ohio State recruiting class, and further strengthens the Buckeyes’ grip on the top ranked class for 2018. Johnson had announced that his final three prior to this were UCLA, Clemson, and Ohio State.

Tyreke Johnson Bio

Johnson currently attends the Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, FL. Trinity Christian lost in the Florida Regional Finals 24-14 to West Florida. Johnson stands at 6-1, 191lb. and is the third safety in the class of 2018 to commit to Ohio State. The Buckeyes’ secondary in this class is especially loaded, with two more defensive backs being tacked on with the safeties. Johnson is the fifth ranked safety in the country, and is ranked 38th overall nationally.

Emory Jones is a four-star quarterback currently committed to the Buckeyes. Ohio State has been a bit wary about Jones’ due to his multiple recent visits to Alabama, but Jones continues to reiterate that Columbus is his home.

Binjimen Victor has showed signs of greatness in 2017, and will be a major piece of Zone 6 in 2018.

A little word from That School Up North.

And the real reason for Johnson’s commitment, maybe? A possible message back from the King himself is in play.

No matter the reason, the Buckeyes continue to build on to their already impressive 2018 class.
