The Colorado Buffaloes make the trek this week to good ol’ Lincoln, Nebraska to take on an old foe from their Big 12 days. These two teams know each other well, or at least they used to. Scott Frost has some experience against the Buffs, both at Nebraska and at Oregon.

How Did Colorado Look Last Week?

Colorado took a step back last season after a surprising 10-4 season in 2016. Last week against rival Colorado State, however, the Buffaloes poured it on with a 45-13 drubbing of the Rams.

Quarterback Steven Montez was 22-for-25 for 338 yards, four touchdowns and one pick. His favorite target, Laviska Shenault, Jr., had himself a day. The sophomore wideout finished with 11 catches for 211 yards and a touchdown.

While Colorado State may be the most impressive victory, it was the way Colorado did it that may put a little scare in the Huskers. That’s the kind of start any team outside of Oklahoma, Alabama or Ohio State would take.

How Did Nebraska Look Last Week?

Due to lightning, the Huskers season got delayed a week, so we didn’t even get to see them play. However, quarterback Adrian Martinez said he was cool and ready, so he should be good to go when the season actually opens on Saturday.

What Is Vegas Saying?

As of now, the Huskers are 3.5-point favorites on Saturday. Had the Huskers played and won convincingly last week, that line would perhaps be a little bigger. Due to the cancellation of the Akron game, the Huskers still haven’t played live football and Colorado started off with a bang. I think the line is fair, but I see Nebraska finding its rhythm earlier than some might think. Take Nebraska (-3.5).

The Over/Under for the game is at 64, meaning, with the given spread, the expected score should be around 34-30. We know Colorado is capable of scoring and so is Scott Frost, as he has shown in spades at Oregon and UCF. Unknowns surround both defenses, especially Nebraska. I’d take the over here. It’ll be an offensive day.

Score Prediction: Nebraska 42, Colorado 34

My name is Kade Dohmen and I am a student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I have been a member of Husker Nation since I can remember. Unfortunately my first experience at Memorial Stadium was ruined by Iowa State and eight turnovers, but that’s not important. It has been a long time coming since the years of Tom Osborne, but we have the guy now. Along with the Huskers, my fandom extends to the Los Angeles Chargers formerly known as San Diego, the Chicago Bulls, the Tampa Bay Rays and many others (I have a fan of a team in any league just ask). As always, Go Big Red.
