Summer Split Playoffs Quarterfinals

Echo Fox vs Team SoloMid

This best of five series went the distance, and it was an intense series overall. Team SoloMid won the first game out of the gate but ended up losing the next two. From there, TSM had their backs against the wall and knew that they had to go into each game with a winning mentality. One more mistake and they could have been knocked out in the quarterfinals. In the end however, TSM ran it back, and won the last two games of the series to advance to the semi-finals.

100 Thieves vs Flyquest

This series was quite different from the previous series. Instead of being the extremely fun five game series, this match-up was rather one sided. It was a three game series, as Flyquest looked outclassed by 100 Thieves. It wasn’t even that Flyquest looked bad, 100 Thieves simply looked better.

Highlights of the Series

Game One
  • First blood is secured by 100 Thieves by Andy “AnDa” Hoang.
  • A failed four-man gank to the bottom lane spelled disaster for 100 Thieves with Lucas “Santorin” Larsen getting a triple kill on Nocturne.
  • Team fights break out throughout the mid-game and each side gains advantages.
  • 100 Thieves ends the game with a number of Flyquest members being up.

Game Two
  • Both teams played exactly the same compositions as game one.
  • First blood is secured by 100 Thieves after a roam to midlane securing the kill onto Jang “Keane” Lae-young.
  • Many short skirmishes early in the game netting few kills to each team.
  • While attempting Baron, 100 Thieves peeled off and pushed Flyquest away, eventually securing the baron for themselves.
  • Just before 32 minutes into the game, 100 Thieves takes a fight that gets them the Ace and wins them the game.
Game Three
  • First blood is secured by Flyquest onto Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho.
  • By 20 minutes into the game, Flyquest was poised to take the game as they Ace 100 Thieves.

I have been an esports fan since MLG was the only real place for esports. I am an avid fan of League of Legends and will break out my phone to watch it in the most inappropriate of places including, but not limited to, family picnics, work, port-a-potties and weddings. I bore the brains out of my fiancee with talk about map rotations, mid-season roster updates, and why NA will win worlds…eventually. Starting in 2017, I became more engrossed in the analytical side of League of Legends and in the players themselves rather than the organizations as a whole. League of Legends will probably be the death of me, while I sit at my computer for hours watching a VOD in a language that I don’t understand at twice the normal speed.
