It’s that time of year again, time again to gather around and be with your family to celebrate the holidays.

One of the traditions upheld by the holiday season, besides baking and eating cookies, cooking the ham or the turkey (maybe your family has both), is gift-giving.

With Christmas Day upon us this Wednesday, why don’t we take this time right now to do something we always wanted to do as children but were afraid to do out of fear of getting caught?

That’s right, let’s sneak a peek at the gifts that the fans of mixed martial arts will be getting this year.

Fun fact: I snuck a peek at one of my Christmas presents when I was 15, a copy of The Simpsons Christmas on DVD—and was caught almost immediately by my mother.

Thankfully, she allowed me to keep that particular gift, which started my collection of the animated series on DVD.

So if you’re ready, and I mean if you’re really, really ready, let’s go to the tree and open the first present.

Come on!

Let’s see what this one is:

To: Liz Carmouche, from: Bellator.

It looks like Santa gave Liz Carmouche a new contract with a new promotion for Christmas.

Back on Dec. 6, the UFC revealed that Liz Carmouche was no longer affiliated with the promotion.

On Dec. 20, two weeks to the day after the UFC’s announcement, Bellator MMA revealed that it signed Liz Carmouche to a contract.

At this time, however, there’s no timetable for her Bellator MMA debut, but we’ll keep you posted on that.

To the next gift. Hmm, I think I know what this one is:

To: MMA fans throughout the country, from AXS TV.

Yes! It’s the return of the AXS TV Fights programming block!

In November, the Combate Americas MMA promotion and AXS TV came to terms on an English-language broadcasting agreement to air subsequent Combate Americas events.

At the time of the agreement being finalized, AXS TV was scheduled to begin televising Combate Americas in 2020, but just before Thanksgiving, the start date was shifted up to Dec. 13 and AXS TV has now aired two Combate Americas shows.

Let’s move on.

To: UFC Fight Pass subscribers, from: UFC Fight Pass.

This is a fancy present, a brand-new layout for UFC Fight Pass and a new-look UFC mobile app.

In early December, ufcfightpass.com had its previous layout overhauled for a new layout, complimenting the 2018 overhaul of ufc.com.

This makeover also resulted in an updated UFC mobile app.

Take a look at the website if you haven’t already. It’s really nice.

There’s still one more present to look at, so let’s do that now.

To: Joseph Benavidez or Deivison Figureido, from: Henry Cejudo.

On Dec. 20, Henry Cejudo revealed to the UFC that he would be giving up the promotion’s Flyweight championship on his own volition.

As a result, on Feb. 29, during UFC Fight Night 169 in Norfolk, VA, Benavidez and Figureido will fight in a five-round title bout, serving as the card’s headliner.

Well, that’s a look under the tree in MMA this year.

On behalf of all of us, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, joyous Kwanzaa, and a safe and prosperous 2020.

And now to take us home, a classic Christmas carol: O Come All Ye Faithful—by Twisted Sister.
