After a shock defeat for the U.S national team at home to Costa Rica, there were questions surrounding the Yankees’ chances for World Cup qualification. These questions have been to bay for now and questions the use of a heavy MLS squad.

A loss in Honduras would have dropped the United States’ chances to qualify to about 59%,  compared to around 80% just after the Costa Rica loss.

ESPN senior researcher Paul stated this in a tweet:

As of right now, before the other CONCACAF qualifiers, U.S.A. sit in 3rd in the table for qualification but are extremely close to 4th which is the wild card spot and are only above because of their goal differential.

Before the Costa Rica defeat, the U.S. were on a 14-game unbeaten run, so it is important to understand that losing is not something that has been familiar under Bruce Arena. Tsthis tie could be a sign of better things.

It was a real test for the men in white and they can build off this performance in order to finish the next 2 games (Panama and Trinidad and Tobago) strongly.
