The Kentucky Wildcats football team has high expectations for this coming season. After losing some key pieces to their defense, some of their best defensive players are returning. One of those players returning is Mike Edwards. Edwards is returning for his senior season and he has a chip on his shoulder. Get ready because Edwards is coming into this season with something to prove.
Edwards is their most consistent defender
Last season he started all 13 games making it 31 consecutive starts going back to 2015. Not only is Edwards an iron-man for Kentucky’s defense but he also makes huge plays. Edwards finished last season with 100 tackles. His 100 tackles led all SEC defensive backs for the season. If he can have a season like last year the defense will be tough to get by.
Kentucky can’t win without Edwards
It’s been nearly three years since Kentucky’s played without Mike Edwards. He’s also been one of the best if not the best defensive player they have. From his leadership to what he brings to the field he’s an elite player all around. Losing Edwards after this year will be huge for the program. He either leads or is close to leading the team in all defensive categories. With that being said Kentucky will need Edwards to come back for a monster senior season if they want to be successful.
