On October 13th during a cold fall night in Ann Arbor, the Michigan Wolverines began their “revenge season” against the Wisconsin Badgers. The game concluded with a score of 38-13 in favor of the Wolverines. Many could argue that this game has set the tone for the rest of Michigan’s season, and a 25 point win against a ranked Big Ten team was one way to start.
The game started off close, with a zero point tie for the duration of the first quarter. Karan Higdon scored the first touchdown of the night on a two-yard run and the Wolverines left the first half up by six points. Shea Patterson had one of his best games of the season with an 81-yard run and running another 7-yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.
This game put Michigan at a six-game win streak with one win being on the road against Northwestern. The Wolverines will face the Michigan State Spartans this weekend in East Lansing. Michigan has not won a game on the road against a ranked opponent in 12 years. The last away-win was against Notre Dame in 2006.
The Spartans currently sit at No. 24 after beating the Penn State Nittany Lions 21-17 at Beaver Stadium last weekend. Michigan State has also won 8 of the last 10 games against Michigan, and will be bringing full energy this weekend following a big win as underdogs. Breaking a 12-year curse and beating the Spartans on their own turf, this could be one of Michigan’s biggest wins of the season
The Michigan Wolverines will head to East Lansing with a No. 6 AP ranking and a strong win streak under their belts. The team is hungry and continuing their revenge tour, as defensive lineman Chase Winovich said in an interview with ESPN. Kickoff is at 12 P.M. Eastern Time this Saturday.
