With spring practice underway this week, Michigan State is still getting work done on the recruiting trail as they brought in class of 2019 3-star defensive back MJ Griffin (Saline, Mich.) for his first visit.
The junior, who has experience playing at all positions throughout the secondary, has prototypical safety size and is a playmaker. Griffin showcased his ball skills at a recent Rising Stars 7-on-7 competition by out-leaping everyone for an interception.
Griffin is the No. 32 prospect in the state of Michigan for 2019 and the No. 84 safety according to 247 Sports. So far the 6-foot-1 and 180 pound recruit has offers from Kentucky, Indiana, Iowa State, Central Michigan and Toledo, as well as interest from Michigan State and Purdue.
Griffin told 247 Sports “it felt natural being at MSU” about his visit.
Spartans jump into the mix for state of Indiana LB
Purdue may have some competition when it comes to 3-star outside linebacker Jack Kiser (Royal Center, Ind.) as the Spartans became the latest school to offer one of the most highly sought after players in the Hoosier State.
Other schools who have offered Kiser include Iowa, Indiana and Illinois State. At 6-foot-2 and 206 pounds, Kiser is rising up the ranks and currently ranks as the No. 10 outside linebacker in the state of Indiana.
Son of former Spartan wide out gains offer
Muhsin Muhammad III, a 2020 wide receiver out of Charlotte, North Carolina, received his fifth offer when Michigan State extended their offer on Wednesday.

If the name sounds familiar, it’s because Muhammad III is the son of former Spartan and two-time NFL Pro Bowl wide out Muhsin Muhammad II. Muhammad II played for the Spartans from 1992-1995 and is mostly known for his career with the Carolina Panthers.
