While the college football season is underway this week for most schools, the high school season is already underway for most of the country.

Several Michigan State commits kicked off the season last week, including 2019 4-star athlete Julian Barnett whose three touchdowns helped lead Belleville (Mich.) to a dramatic 40-35 overtime win over Brighton. Check out Barnett’s highlights below as he displayed his game-breaking speed on two deep ball touchdowns where he took the top off the defense. He also had several nice tackles on the defensive side of the ball.

Fellow teammate and Spartan commit, 5-star offensive tackle Devontae Dobbs also had an impressive start to his senior campaign as the Tigers offense rolled with five passing touchdowns. This Belleville team is loaded with D-1 talent, and I would not surprised to see them at Ford Field in November.

Another highly regarded offensive lineman in Michigan State’s 2019 class is Spencer Brown who, despite his team Walled Lake Western falling to Detroit Catholic Central 28-7, had some impressive game tape.

Our next highlight tape comes from a Spartan legacy who hasn’t yet committed but is definitely on Michigan State’s radar. 2020 4-star wide receiver Muhsin Muhammad III scored three touchdowns for Myers Park (Charlotte, NC) in their 50-7 win over Ardrey Kell High School.

Muhammad, whose father Muhsin also played at Michigan State and later went on to lead a 14-year NFL career with the Panthers and Bears, has offers from NC State, North Carolina, Temple, Tennessee as well as the Spartans.

Growing up I knew two things, I loved sports and I was a talented writer. With that in mind I set out to begin my career in sports journalism. As a lifelong fan of Spartan athletics, I decided to attend MSU and later graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in journalism. My other sports passion is Detroit sports, specifically the Detroit Lions (still waiting to witness my first playoff win). Since graduating from MSU, I have had the opportunity to write for various publications including MLive and Detroit Sports Nation. I am now excited to join Armchair All Americans and help cover Michigan State recruiting. Besides sports, I enjoy playing video games and listening to all kinds of genres of rock music. I currently reside in Grand Rapids, Michigan with my wife Melissa.
