Maryland men’s basketball junior guard Melo Trimble is declaring for the 2017 NBA Draft, the program announced on Wednesday
Trimble flirted with departing after a breakout freshman season followed by a sluggish sophomore season. After a first-round loss in the NCAA Tournament to Xavier, Trimble has elected to go pro.
The Upper Marlboro, Maryland, native was an instant sensation in College Park, bringing the Terps to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances. A fan favorite, Trimble finished his Maryland career averaging around 16 points, four assists and four rebounds per game.
The Terps will be in good hands for the future after freshman Anthony Cowan’s strong rookie campaign, and he will likely be the one to take over for the departing star.
